If you are also getting alerts from your firewall program about this WWAHost.exe process trying to access Internet or if you also noticed this process running in Task Manager and now you are wondering what is WWAHost.exe process and why is it running in Windows 10, this tutorial will assist you.

In this article, I’ll try to explain what is WWAHost.exe process which is usually found running in Task Manager in Windows 8/8.1 and Windows 10 operating systems.

First of all, stop worrying about this executable. It’s not a virus or suspicious program. WWAHost.exe is a system process which comes preinstalled with Windows 8/8.1 and Windows 10 operating systems.

WWAHost.exe is stored under C:\Windows\System32 folder where other system files and folders can be found.

This process helps modern (metro or UWP) apps in executing and running in Windows. Since UWP or modern apps are similar to web-based apps, WWAHost.exe process stores required files and functionality to help these modern apps running in Windows.

If you find WWAHost.exe running in Task Manager or trying to connect to Internet, it means one or more modern apps are running in background and WWAHost.exe is processing the app requests.

In my Windows 10 machine, it was Office app which was causing WWAHost.exe running and connecting to Internet. As soon as I closed Office app using Task Manager, WWAHost.exe also stopped running in background.
