[Tip] New Working Method to Get HTTPS and WWW Back for URLs in Google Chrome Address bar

If you use Google Chrome web browser, you might have noticed that when you open a website in Chrome, it automatically hides HTTPS/HTTP and WWW terms from the website URL in the address bar. Chrome only displays the main domain name of the website in address bar.

In previous versions of Chrome, it was possible to restore HTTP/HTTPS/WWW terms for websites URLs in the address bar using a hidden preference/flag. We posted a detailed tutorial about restoring HTTPS and WWW phrases in Chrome address bar at following link:

Unfortunately, Google Chrome team removed the preference/flag from newer Chrome versions (v79 and later). Now the above mentioned tutorial no longer works to bring back HTTPS and WWW terms for website URLs in Chrome address bar.

If you are looking for a way to get back HTTPS and WWW in Chrome address bar, here is another new working solution for you. There is an extension available for Chrome which can add HTTPS and WWW back to Chrome address bar.

This extension is called “Suspicious Site Reporter” and was released officially from Google team, so you can trust the extension and safely install it without worries.

Check out following simple steps to bring back the classic HTTPS and WWW terms in Chrome address bar:

1. First of all install the required extension in Chrome from Chrome Web Store. For your convenience, we are providing the direct link to download the extension:

Visit above mentioned link and it’ll open the official web page to download and install the extension in Chrome.

2. Click on “Add to Chrome” button given on the web page to install the extension in your web browser. Chrome will show a warning or notification message asking for your permission. Click on “Add extension” button.

It’ll install the extension in Chrome and you’ll see a new icon of the extension in Chrome toolbar displaying next to the address bar.

Now try to open any website and you’ll get back HTTP/HTTPS and WWW terms in the address bar.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

This extension has been developed by Google team to help Chrome users in reporting unsafe websites to Google. You can click on the extension icon showing in Chrome toolbar to report any suspicious website to Google. Use the Report feature very carefully.

If you don’t need the extension button in Chrome toolbar, you can hide the extension icon by right-clicking on the extension icon and select “Hide in Chrome menu” option. It’ll immediately move the extension icon from main toolbar to Chrome menu.
