[Tip] Enable Hidden Secret Full Screen Drop Down UI in Microsoft Edge

Every web browser comes with a built-in Full Screen mode. We can enter into full screen mode by pressing F11 key. When the full screen mode is activated, everything except the webpage content area becomes hidden. The browser frame (title bar, tab bar, toolbar, etc) also disappears along with Windows taskbar.

When we activate Full Screen mode in Microsoft Edge browser, it also hides everything except the webpage content area. To exit from Full Screen mode, we need to again press F11 key. Or we can move the mouse cursor at the top of the screen and a big Close (X) button appears in the top-center area which can be clicked to exit from Full Screen mode as shown in following screenshot:

Microsoft Edge also comes with a hidden secret feature called “Shy UI” which can be activated and enabled using a preference/flag to bring a secret Full Screen UI to the browser. Once we enable this feature, we can hover the mouse cursor at the top and the browser frame will appear in form of a drop-down UI. A full screen toggle button is also given at the end of the browser frame which can be clicked to exit from Full Screen mode.

  1. This option seems to be gone in edge 91. Is there still a way to disable the dropdown?
