You can remove this option by uninstalling the complete Gadget application. How will you do that? Here are the required steps:

1. Open Control Panel, click on “Programs and Features” and then click on “Turn Windows features on or off” link present in left sidebar:

2. It’ll open another window, now uncheck “Windows Gadget Platform” option from the list and click on OK button:

  2. You explained how to remove Gadgets from the menu by removing the entiure application. You didn’t explain how to remove Gadgets from the menu, yet keep the function installed.

  3. @ LMHtd open gadgets using right click>properties/personalize find gadgets and from there you could config what gadgets to keep and what to remove by simple mouse click, u could also right click and go to gadgets and then perform the actions.

  4. Hello VG,

I found your cited page after I posted the above comment, and the method worked flawlesly. Thank you. I now only have “Personalize” left in the Desktop context menu.

  5. I cannot get the Gadgets Option removed from my computer. It is still showing up as a Wallpaper and I don’t want it on there. I downloaded it on Monday 11/1/15 from BING and I would like to remove it completely. Can you tell me how in simple terms, please?

  6. ”Desktop Gadget Gallery” does not appear in the ”on or off” pane, yet it is present in my Start Menu programs list.
BTW–where did this thing come from? I never noticed it before, & to the best of my recollection, have never tried to install a gadget.

  7. Your description worked perfectly! I got rid of the gadget gallery just like I wanted! Thanks
