I know a lot of people were disappointed by the lack of a decent boot logo in Vista, so I’ve thrown together a tool that should simplify the process of creating the new high resolution boot logos!

Your works of art need to be saved as 24-bit BMPs, and you’ll need to create them in two sizes: 800×600 and 1024×768. On my machine the boot logo always defaults to 1024×768, but I assume the 800×600 version automatically kicks in if your graphics card is rubbish. Once you’ve selected your two images, just click File -> “Save Boot Screen File As…” and it will generate the logo file. To make the logo come up during boot, you’ll need to copy the file to the following folder:
%windir%\System32\en-US
You’ll also need to make sure the /NOGUIBOOT option is enabled in the MSCONFIG tool, otherwise you’ll only get the old 16 colour boot screen. For full details, make sure you read the info during setup.
Download Vista Boot Logo Generator BETA 1.2
IMPORTANT: It’s still beta and there may be bugs so use at your own risk, and make sure you backup first!

Dear Vishal,
Is this replacing the diluted watercolor image that you can make go away with boot info selected in msconfig. or the spinning orb?
Ronald
Dear Vishal,
I gave it a try and am amazed by your skill at all things Windows. Everything was right where you said (vista home premium 32bit) and it worked flawlessly. I no longer have to enable boot info in order to avoid that cheesy washed out boot screen. I made one with hello kitty with a head wound so i am always in a good mood when Vista starts.
Thank you so much.
VG
^^ You are welcome.

Hey, you don't have to post this comment. I've changed my vista welcome screen to a windows 7 screen. Then I downloaded Tune Up Utilities to change the boot screen and start up logo...they installed and I can preview the images, but won't work. I guess they are not the right file types. I have the Logo Generator, but don't know where to get windows 7 bitmap files that I can use. Is there a website that has logos in both resolutions? I tried to use a picture that I saved as a JPEG Image, but it won't work. Any way around this?

save the jpg change from jpg to save as bmp then save then it will change to bmp for you to use
Carlos
But will this work in Vista SP2?
VG
^^ Not tested yet.
