"Host Mechanic" is a free software for Windows which allows you to edit, delete or restore default Hosts file in Windows. This free tool can be used in Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 Developer Preview.
With the help of this tool, you can add new website IP address, URL easily and quickly to Hosts file. The tool also allows you to delete or restore default Hosts file using a single click.

This small utility is portable so you don't need to install it. Simply download and run the EXE file. You can also carry it on your USB drive.

Lavasoft AdAware says this is a trojan; and I don't know if this is related, but I had a hard time copy-pasting HTML until AdAware removed it. Windows 7 Ultimate on old nForce3 motherboard. This looks like an extremely useful utility and if it's some bug I hope it gets fixed.

Pls help in editing this host file in windows xp,as some of the particular sites has been blocked by the admin.
can u help to remove the social networking sites from the host file or can you suggest me some tricks to edit the host file and use those social networking sites.

What exactly do we do with the text highlighted in black? Do we just click "Add to Host," and all the highlighted information is added to the host file? Or, do we have to manually enter each of the websites up above, then click the "Add to Host" button? Thank you for you help and feedback!

^^ Yes. You just need to click on the button and it'll be automatically added to host file. The highlighted text in black shows the content of hosts file.
