Is this thing actually good? Can it replace regular antivirus?
Carlos
This software is awesome, is the best free antivirus, better than Avira, AVG and Avast, and can even match Nod32

I believe its supposed to replace defender, using this program if you check after a reboot turns defender off?? hmmm....

I am using it right now, it is a very good product. I was testing the beta release and even as a beta it worked as a regular antivirus ---> very good.
I recommend it for everyone.
@ThePurps: You need to uninstall any other antivirus you have in order to use MSE, it will also disable Defender to avoid conflicts.
@VG thanks for the excellent post!

Just for info: MS will discontinue Windows Live One Care sales this summer and MSE will replace the service, you can read the complete information at:

I respect AVG but they made some decisions that IMO undermined the usability of the product. I refuse to use ANY browser toolbars, and any product that recommends you use theirs already sunk two points in my book.
