[Tip] Add “Remove Suggestion” Option to Address bar in Google Chrome

When you type some text in address bar (also known as omnibox) in Google Chrome web browser, it automatically shows some suggestions taken from your web browser history, search engine and currently opened tabs. The suggestions are shown so that the user can select desired URL or web page easily and quickly.

But sometimes you may want to remove a particular suggestion displayed by Chrome browser. In such situation, Chrome doesn’t provide any way to delete the suggestion from the drop-down list. Experienced and advanced users use a workaround or keyboard shortcut to remove suggestions from address bar. Use arrow keys to select the desired suggestion and then press SHIFT+Delete keys together and the suggested entry will be immediately removed. Now that removed suggestion will no longer appear in address bar suggestions list.

Newer versions of Google Chrome browser come with a built-in preference/flag to add a new “Remove Suggestion” option in address bar. If you don’t like a suggestion and want to delete it, just right-click on the suggested entry and select “Remove suggestion” option from the context menu. Chrome will ask for the confirmation, click on “Remove” button to remove the suggestion.
