vLite: Customize Windows Vista Setup and Remove Unwanted Components

The image “http://www.vlite.net/img/vlogo.png” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

vLite is a tool for customizing the Windows Vista installation before actually installing it.

Main features are:

  • hotfix, language pack and driver integration
  • component removal
  • unattended setup
  • tweaks
  • split/merge Vista installation CDs
  • create ISO and burn bootable CD/DVD

Windows Vista from Microsoft takes a lot of resources, we all know that. vLite provides you with an easy removal of the unwanted components in order to make Vista run faster and to your liking.

This tool doesn't use any kind of hacking, all files and registry entries are protected as they would be if you install the unedited version only with the changes you select.

It configures the installation directly before the installation, meaning you'll have to remake the ISO and reinstall it. This method is much cleaner, not to mention easier and more logical than doing it after installation on every reinstall.

^^ Ddi you try with latest beta version?

  • i'd like to note here that the vlite customization tool doesn't work with an all in one version edition dvd & will always fail whatever times you may try even with a beta version .

  • Hi VG. You have an absolutely great site with some amazing content. THANK YOU! I wish I would have found it a few years ago. Anyways, I have three questions.
    1. Do you know of anyone working on a lite version for Windows 7?
    2. Is there a way to add the tweaks that you have on your site, to the install dvd/usb drive, so the tweaks are there when the OS is installed?
    3. Have you tried any unattended installs with Windows 7? If so, could you post a tutorial?

Again, thank you very much for the great info.

^^ You can use this software vLite to create customized versions of Windows 7 setup. But personally I have not tried it yet.
