  • thanks vg for links and instructions.m

  • Oh Yes!! The links to the ISOs are up and I'm currently downloading the US English x64 version :)

  • I took a look into this preview and I really enjoyed it, what would be the disadvantages on using it daily?
    Any idea?

  • Hello VG.

    Is there a way to hide the search button on the Windows 10 taskbar?
    (Unnecessary in my opinion)

    Thanks

  • Is there anybody know key for "windows technical for consumer". I installed that with WinNT Setup

  • Never mind, I tried using windows 8.0 OEM keys and success for activated.

  • Hi Vishal,

    Will you be releasing any theme for Win 7/8/8.1 based on the technical preview?

    Your readers really love that ! :)

  • Hi VG,

    Can you please write a detailed article on how to install windows 10 in separate hard disk partition and make it dual-boot system.

    Thanx in advance!

  • VG

    ^^ Just boot using Windows 10 setup DVD or bootable USB and install it in a different partition. It'll automatically make a dual-boot system.

    @aditya
    Thanks for your suggestion. May be in future?

    @ixh
    I have not installed Windows 10 yet. Once I install it, I'll start playing with the features. ;)

    @Diogo Silva
    Since its a testing and trial version, it'll expire on the given date. After that date you'll need to reinstall previous Windows version. Also you may face bugs and software incompatibility issues.

  • Why not skip ahead 15 numbers, and call it Windows 26? And, at the same time, instead of calling it the 2014 or 2015 version, make the year 2058?

    unrelated: I read also that the 2016 model automobiles now are on the market.

  • p.s. I realise these are all 20 somethings or, many of them, even teenagers. But does anyone still wear a necktie or appear to be at least somehow presentable at official briefings. That fat slouchy guy didn't even bother to tuck in his shirt.

  • I'm using Windows 10 right now, just without audio on my MacBook Pro. Enjoying the new start menu and metro apps in their own windows.

  • I just wanted to know what build number is this version, as I downloaded it on the 29th of Sep, and it build number is 9841, so is this one similar?

  • Yet microsoft name it Windows 10 in Conference but in url you can see it has named Windows 9
    iso.esd.microsoft.com/W9TPI/

  • Thanks Vishal for download links and detailed instructions.
    Is it Win10 Basic or Home or Pro edition?
    Best regards

  • VG

    @Hackerpunk1
    Yes. Same build number 9841.

  • no metro UI for me is it same for everybody

    or this is only a joke ???

  • Is it possible to install windows 10 directly from hard disk? I have an USB of 4 GB but its actual size is 3.76 GB and ISO file of Windows 10 (64 bit) is of 3.8 GB. So I can't use my USB drive to install windows 10 on my system. I don't have a DVD. I tried to install it on Virtual Box but it has very poor performance on my system. I don't want to overwrite my existing OS (windows 8.1 64-bit).

    Plz help.

  • VG

    ^^ Of course. Extract the ISO file using 7-zip or WinRAR and run setup.exe file. When asked, select clean installation or similar option. Dont select Upgrade only option. On next screen, select a different partition which doesnt contain your Windows 8.1. Thats it. Setup wizard will install Windows 10 on a different partition and you'll have dual-boot system with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

  • ^^ I tried that way. I extracted the ISO file and run setup.exe file. Setup runs successfully. But there was no option to select partition. And the installation doesn't go beyond 3%. I almost waited for 2 hours. But installation stuck there.

  • VG

    ^^ I have installed Windows 10 in a few Windows 8.1 PCs using the same method. :)

  • ^^ Actually I was running wrong setup file. After running setup file present in "sources" folder, I successfully installed windows 10. Thanx for your help.

  • hey VG,

    I am not sure if this is correct forum to ask this question.
    I purchased a laptop with win vista OEM and I would like to upgrade from vista to win 8.
    I wanted to know if it is possible to upgrade from vista to windows 8 without buying as I already own vista OEM licence key.

    I have checked several sites but couldn't find answer. Could you please clarify that for me??

  • VG

    ^^ Of course. Run Windows 10 setup.exe file and select a different partition to install Windows 10. Then you'll have dual boot system. In future you can remove Windows 10 anytime you want.

  • Windows 10 TP v9860 is released.

  • New update now includes Notification Center feature (previously hidden in v9841).

  • Warning for Dell Venue 8 tablet users!!!! I evaluated this on a laptop using VMware, very promising. So promising I also installed it on the Dell Venue 8 Pro Tablet. The tablet side needs more work, besides the bluetooth wasn't compatible, the gesture interface is not ready, IMHO. So much I tried to do a full recovery from the installation media that I created. Unfortunately, the recovery won't work because recovery does not allow installation unless it is plugged in. Well the tablet only has one USB port used to charge or connect a OTG USB cable. I can't connect power and a USB at the same time. I need a special cable that is not available from Dell or anywhere other than some vendor from China. The Windows based recovery erased and reinstall Window 10 TP, and wiped out all Dell apps/drivers. I was better off leaving the TP inlace. What a nightmare!!!

  • I recently purchased a new laptop with Windows 8.1, x64 installed. However, In my old computer that bit the dust I had Windows 8.1 pro, x64 installed. I had upgraded from my DVD. Since my new laptop has 8.1 installed and I have the 8 Pro upgrade disk, will it be possible for me to get windows 10 Pro x64? And, will I have to downgrade to Windows 8 and then upgrade to Pro before I can get 10 Pro?

  • VG

    ^^ You'll get Windows 10 Pro only if you have Windows 8.1 Pro installed. You cant upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 8. You'll need Windows 8.1 in your system.

    What you can do is, first install Windows 8 Pro, then update it to Windows 8.1 Pro using Windows Update and then you'll be able to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.
