Windows 11 will Release on October 05, 2021

Microsoft has made official announcement about the General Availability (GA) of Windows 11. Here are the main key points of today’s announcement:

  • Windows 11 release date is October 5, 2021.
  • On October 5, 2021, Windows 11 will be available on new PCs to purchase.
  • The free upgrade to Windows 11 for eligible (compatible) Windows 10 devices will also start on October 5, 2021.
  • The free upgrade process will roll out in phases and will complete by mid-2022.
  • Unsupported devices which are not compatible with Windows 11, will keep using Windows 10.
  • Windows 10 will be supported by Microsoft through October 14, 2025.
  • Microsoft will release a new feature update for Windows 10 devices later this year.

Approx. 2 months back, Microsoft announced Windows 11, the next new version of Windows operating system. Windows 11 has been developed to replace existing Windows 10 version on devices.

Windows 11 features a brand new rounded UI with centered Start Menu and Taskbar. There are lots of GUI changes and new features introduced in Windows 11.

Windows 11 will require high-end system requirements and only compatible devices which meet Windows 11 hardware specifications, will be able to upgrade or install Windows 11 operating system.

Now Microsoft has officially announced that Windows 11 final RTM (Release to Manufacturing) version will be released to public on October 05, 2021. It means people can start using Windows 11 final stable version as a primary OS in their computer systems starting October 05, 2021.

On the same day, lots of new devices will be launched by various manufacturers (such as Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung) which will come preinstalled or preloaded with new Windows 11 operating system.

If you are using Windows 10 device and your device meets Windows 11 system requirements, you’ll be able to upgrade to Windows 11 for free.

The free Windows 11 upgrade process will also start rolling out to eligible Windows 10 devices on October 05, 2021. Windows 11 will be provided for free upgrade via Windows Update and Media Creation tool.

Microsoft will roll out Windows 11 free upgrade process in phases. Newer devices will receive Windows 11 first. According to Microsoft, the Windows 11 upgrade process should complete by mid-2022.

If your Windows 10 device is not compatible with Windows 11, you don’t need to worry. You can keep using Windows 10 in your machine in coming years. Microsoft will support Windows 10 through October 14, 2025 which means you’ll receive security updates as well as new feature updates for Windows 10 in future.
