[Windows 10 Tip] How to Add, Remove and Re-arrange Quick Actions in Action Center

When you open Action Center (also known as Notification Center) in Windows 10, it shows a few Quick Actions tiles or toggle icons at bottom. You can click on expand or collapse options to show less or more quick actions in Action Center.

Sometimes you may want to add new quick actions or remove unnecessary and unwanted existing quick actions from Action Center. Some users may also want to re-arrange available quick actions such as moving and changing quick actions order/position in Action Center.

In past, we had to open Windows 10 Settings app and then we had to browse through various sections and options to be able to organize these quick actions.

We posted a tutorial in past to arrange and add/remove quick actions in Windows 10 Action Center which can be found at following link:

[Windows 10 Tip] Old Way to Rearrange or Add/Remove Quick Actions in Action Center

Now in newer versions of Windows 10, there is no need to open Settings app as mentioned in above tutorial to arrange quick actions in Action Center.

Now you can directly manage and organize quick actions right from the Action Center. Microsoft has added a new functionality to Action Center in newer Windows 10 versions which allows users to quickly and easily manage quick actions directly from the Action Center.

Following steps describes new method about how to arrange and add/remove quick actions in Windows 10 Action Center:

1. Open Action Center by clicking on Action Center icon present at the end of Taskbar. Alternatively, you can launch Action Center by pressing WIN+A keys together.

2. Now you’ll see all available Quick Actions tiles given at the bottom.

Right-click on a quick action and select “Edit Quick Actions” option. You can also right-click anywhere in Action Center and select “Edit” option.

Now Action Center will enter into editing or customization mode.

3. To remove any unwanted quick action, click on the Unpin icon given at the top-right corner of each quick action tile. It’ll immediately delete the quick action from Action Center.

To add new quick action, click on “+Add” option given at the bottom and Action Center will show a list of available quick actions. Click on desired quick action present in the list and it’ll be added to Action Center.

Remember if there are no extra quick actions available to add, the “+Add” option will be grayed out or disabled and you’ll be unable to click on it.

To re-arrange or change order of quick actions, you need to just drag-n-drop a quick action tile to desired position and it’ll immediately move to that position.

Once you finish editing, click on “Done” option and Action Center will save your changes.

BONUS TIP: You can unpin all quick actions one by one to completely remove whole quick actions area from Action Center.

PS: I noticed that the 3-dots menu is currently not functional. Nothing happens, when we click on it. I hope Microsoft will add functionality to this dummy option.

Also a “Reset” or “Restore” options will be very helpful to reset quick actions position and placement to default factory settings.
