People who use a dual SIM smartphone or carry 2 phones but want to use WhatsApp on both numbers in a single phone, this is really an excellent feature addition.

Before starting the tutorial, let’s mention a few important points:

  • The dual WhatsApp account feature is currently available in Beta versions of WhatsApp and it’ll roll out to public very soon.
  • Users can add only up to 2 accounts in WhatsApp. So it’s a dual account feature and not multiple accounts.
  • You’ll need to switch between both added WhatsApp accounts using the 3-dots menu, so one account can be used at a time. You can’t run both accounts simultaneously.
  • Both accounts allow users to customize all settings separately. So you can set different ringtones, themes and other settings separately for both the accounts.

In past, users had to use 3rd party dual apps to install and create a copy of WhatsApp in their smartphones to be able to add their second WhatsApp account. Some clever users take advantage of WhatsApp for Business app to use another account in their smartphone. Actually WhatsApp provides a special edition of its app for business which can be installed and used alongside with regular WhatsApp.

Many smartphones companies such as Samsung also provide their users dual app functionality built-in. Users can use this functionality to use 2 WhatsApp accounts in 1 smartphone. We posted an exclusive tutorial about this feature in following article:
