[Tip] Restore Classic File Transfer Dialog Box in Windows 11

Windows 11 comes with a redesigned file transfer dialog box which appears to show the transfer progress when you cut, copy or delete a file or folder in File Explorer. If you want to restore classic or legacy file transfer dialog box in Windows 11 as it was present in Windows 7, this article will help you.

STEP 1: Download and Install Explorer Patcher

To enable classic file transfer box in Windows 11, we’ll take help of a freeware called “Explorer Patcher” developed by valinet.

Download ExplorerPatcher for Windows 11

STEP 2: Run Explorer Patcher to Enable Classic UI

After downloading the tool, install it and it’ll restart the Explorer.

Now right-click on the Taskbar and you’ll see some extra classic options added to the Taskbar such as Task Manager, cascade windows, Show desktop, etc. Click on Properties option in the context menu. It’ll open ExplorerPatcher settings window.

Alternatively, you can also open ExplorerPatcher properties using Start Menu -> All Apps -> Properties (ExplorerPatcher) option.

STEP 3: Restore Classic File Transfer Dialog Box

Now go to File Explorer tab in ExplorerPatcher properties and enable following option:

Always use legacy file transfer dialog

Click on “Restart File Explorer” link given at the bottom-left corner of the window and it’ll restart Explorer.

Congratulations! You have restored full classic file transfer dialog box in Windows 11 File Explorer.

Now try to cut or copy a file/folder in File Explorer and you’ll see Windows 7 style classic file transfer box.

PS: In future, if you decide to restore the default or new file transfer dialog box in your Windows 11 device, disable the above mentioned option again in ExplorerPatcher Properties window.

  1. Sir, 1st I want confirmation before apply this trick, is any issue appears when copying files (after use this trick), even after restart computer? I mean did you face any problem after apply this trick?
