If you upgraded or installed newer versions of Google Chrome web browser, you might have noticed that some menus and options now display “New” badge or tag.

For example, if you right-click on a tab, you’ll see “New” badge on “Add tab to new group” option in context menu as shown in following screenshot:

Actually Google Chrome team added this new functionality to Chrome browser to highlight new features and options introduced in the web browser.

The “New” badge is not a new feature. It was implemented in Chrome 85 version. At that time, the feature was disabled by default and interested users needed to manually activate and enable it. We told you about it in following article:

Now the feature has been enabled for all users and newer versions of Chrome display “New” badge or label to all users.

If you don’t like the “New” badge and want to get rid of it, it’s possible by modifying a preference/flag in Chrome.

The same preference/flag which was used to enable the “New” tag still exists in Chrome and can be used to disable it in newer versions of Chrome.
