[Tip] Remove “3D Objects” from Windows 10 Explorer “This PC”

When you install Windows 10 operating system in your computer, you see some extra folders such as Desktop, Documents, Downloads, etc in This PC (also known as My Computer or Windows Explorer). Many people find these extra items present in This PC window useless and annoying. The good thing is that you can remove these extra folders easily with the help of some simple registry tweaks which we shared few years back in following tutorial:

Now with the release of new feature update of Windows 10, Microsoft has added another extra folder called “3D Objects” to This PC window as shown in following image:

Many readers asked us to share a way to get rid of this new “3D Objects” folder too. So today in this tutorial, we’ll tell you how to remove “3D Objects” folder from This PC in Windows 10.

Check out following steps to delete “3D Objects” item:

1. Press WIN+R keys together to open RUN dialog box. You can also open it from WIN+X menu. Now type regedit in RUN dialog box and press Enter. It’ll open Registry Editor.

2. Now go to following keys one by one:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace

3. Now you’ll see {0DB7E03F-FC29-4DC6-9020-FF41B59E513A} key under NameSpace keys. Right-click on the “{0DB7E03F-FC29-4DC6-9020-FF41B59E513A}” key and select Delete option.

That’s it. It’ll immediately remove “3D Objects” folder from This PC and all browse windows.

NOTE: We have updated the old registry script to remove 6 extra folders from This PC window to include the new method to remove “3D Objects” folder as well. So after applying the registry script, you’ll get rid of all extra folders including the new “3D Objects” automatically.

    Any way to remove them from This PC but keep in user folder

    With this tutorial, I was able to remove the folders in This PC, but when I go in any software and try to open a file via Open (Ctrl+O), the dialog box shows those folders again in This PC. Kindly help. Thanks.

  5. Tried the “remove 3D Folder” edit. I followed to the correct reg key, but it is in “value not set” status so I did not delete it.
