When you install a newer Windows 10 version, it asks you to create the security questions for your local user account. But after some time, you may want to change the security questions or their answers due to security or privacy issues.

Also if you upgrade previous Windows 10 version to new version, it might be possible that Windows 10 doesn’t ask you to create security questions at installation time.

So in this tutorial, we’ll tell you how to change the security questions for your user account in Windows 10. If you haven’t set security questions yet, the same steps will help you in creating security questions for your user account.

Check out following steps to set or change security questions in Windows 10:

1. Open Settings app from Start Menu. Alternatively, you can press WIN+I keys together to open Settings directly.

2. Now click on Accounts icon in Settings app and then click on Sign-in Options tab present in left-side pane.

PS: Alternatively, You can directly launch this page using “ms-settings:signinoptions” command in RUN dialog box as mentioned here.

  1. Sounds sweet, but there is no option for security questions under password.

  2. ^^ You need the latest April 2018 Update version 1803 or later builds to be able to use this feature.

  3. Same thing as P H Allen above. I don’t see “Security questions” under password and I am running (using) the latest April 2018 Update version 1803. So, what gives!

  4. ^^ Security questions feature is available for local user accounts only. Are you using Microsoft Account?

  5. ^^ Yes I am using a Microsoft account with a subscription to Office 365 (administrator) and a normal user account (standard). Does that mean one is secure enough with a Microsoft account that security questions are facultative? Just trying to understand!.

  6. I disabled services restarted computer it said something happened pin not available so I tried password no work so I click forgot password it did nothing I’m so stuck and frustrated please help

  7. ^^ Which service did you disable? I can only suggest boot using bootable USB and select Repair options. Then run sfc /scannow command.

  8. I can see no option to change those questions. None of them is applicable. How do I change them to something that is memorable and applicable?
