[Tip] How to Customize New Twitter UI Design, Enable Dark Mode

If you are a Twitter user, you might have noticed the new UI design introduced by Twitter website. The new interface is modern, minimal, refreshing, responsive and faster than before.

The new Twitter UI looks as shown in following screenshot:

If you haven’t received the new interface in your Twitter account yet, it means Twitter has not upgraded your account to the new UI. You’ll need to wait for some time and your account will be automatically converted into new interface design.

Many Twitter users who have been upgraded to the new design, are not happy with it. They are complaining that Twitter didn’t provide any option to switch back to old design. Actually when the new UI was under development and testing, Twitter provided an option “Switch to legacy Twitter” in main profile menu which could be used to restore the previous classic UI in Twitter. Sadly, Twitter has removed the option after releasing the new interface to public.

A few days back people found a way to restore old UI in Twitter. They were able to bring back old UI by setting a cookie called “rweb_optin” to off using Developer Tools (F12) feature of the web browser. Unfortunately, Twitter also fixed this workaround and now if you change the cookie value to off, it automatically gets reset to default value as soon as you refresh the page.

So now Twitter users are stuck with new UI design and there is no way left to restore old design in Twitter website.

The good news is that the new Twitter UI is customizable and you can customize new UI look according to your requirements. You can change font size, color scheme and switch to Dark theme mode/Night mode using display settings provided in new UI.

If you also want to customize new Twitter UI to make it a little bit look-like previous classic UI, following steps will help you:

1. Open Twitter website and sign into your account.

This window also contains options to activate and enable Dark Mode or Night Mode. There are 2 dark modes available: Dim and Lights out. You can select the mode which you find best for your eyes.

  1. ” The new interface is modern, minimal, refreshing, responsive and faster than before.” – are you kidding, right? New interface is useless, ugly and annoying. Twitter’s interface designers do not listen to users at all.
Thank god there is a browser extension GoodTwitter, that restores the old interface
