[Tip] Enable New “Tab Hover Cards” Feature in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge
UPDATE: This tutorial to enable tab hover cards feature works in both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge web browsers.
If you are using Google Chrome web browser, this tutorial will help you in enabling a brand new feature called “Tab Hover Cards” in the browser. Google Chrome 73 and later versions come with new Tab Hover Card feature which replaces the classic and traditional tool-tip functionality in the browser. We told you about this feature in UPDATE 102 in our exclusive Chrome Canary Updates topic when this feature was under development and testing.
Currently the Tab Hover Cards feature is hidden and not enabled by default. So we have to manually activate and enable it.

UPDATE: In newer versions of Chrome, tab hover card feature comes enabled by default. If you want to disable it and want to restore classic tab tooltip feature, following tutorial will help you:

Usually when you move the mouse cursor over a tab in Google Chrome browser, you get the old tool-tip showing the web page title only as shown in following screenshot:
Before Activating Tab Hover Cards Feature:
When you activate the new Tab Hover Cards feature, it replaces the classic tool-tip with a new card UI showing web page URL along with the web page title as shown in following screenshot:

UPDATE: Google Chrome 74 and later versions also show thumbnail preview image/website favicon on Tab Hover Card as shown in following screenshot:

If you also want to activate and enable new Tab Hover Cards feature in Google Chrome browser, following steps will help you:
1. Open Google Chrome web browser and type chrome://flags/ in addressbar and press Enter. It’ll open the advanced configuration page.
2. Now type tab hover card in the “Search flags” box.
It’ll directly go to following options:
Tab Hover Cards
Enables a popup containing tab information to be visible when hovering over a tab. This will replace tooltips for tabs. – Mac, Windows, Linux, Chrome OS

Tab Hover Card Images
Shows a preview image in tab hover cards, if tab hover cards are enabled. – Mac, Windows, Linux, Chrome OS

3. To enable the Tab Hover Cards feature, select Enabled for Tab Hover Cards option from the drop-down box.
If you also want to enable preview image/website favicon on Tab Hover Card, select Enabled for Tab Hover Card Images as well.
4. Google Chrome will ask you to restart the browser. Click on “Relaunch now” button to restart Google Chrome.
That’s it. Now hover mouse cursor over any tab and you’ll get the new Tab Hover Card UI activated.
PS: If you want to disable tab Hover Cards feature and restore the classic tool-tip functionality in future, select “Default” option from the drop-down box for both options and restart the browser.
