[Tip] Enable Double-Click to Close Tabs Feature in Mozilla Firefox
In Mozilla Firefox web browser, you can close a tab in multiple ways such as by pressing Ctrl+F4 keys together, using Ctrl+W key combination or by simply clicking on the (x) close button given on the tab.
Now with the release of Firefox 61.0 version, Mozilla has added a new method to close a tab. With the help of this method, you can simply double-click on a tab and it’ll close immediately. Previously users had to use 3rd party extensions to bring this feature to Firefox.
But this new feature is not enabled by default and you need to activate it using the hidden secret advanced configuration page i.e. about:config page.

If you remember, this method was introduced in Firefox 61.0 Nightly build. Check out UPDATE 118 in following exclusive topic:

If you also want to enable double-click to close tabs feature in Mozilla Firefox, following steps will help you:
1. Open Mozilla Firefox and type about:config in the addressbar and press Enter. It’ll show you a warning message, click on “I accept the risk!” button.
2. Now type Dblclick in Search filter box and it’ll show following preference in the window:
browser.tabs.closeTabByDblclick
3. This preference is set to false by default i.e. disabled. To enable the feature, double-click on browser.tabs.closeTabByDblclick preference and change its value to true. Alternatively, you can right-click on the preference and select Toggle option.
