If you decide to restore the preview image feature in Chrome, set the above mentioned toggle option to ON again.

Following method will work in all Google Chrome versions:

UPDATE: The preference/flag mentioned below has been added back in Google Chrome 114 and later versions. 1. I disabled “Tab Hover Card Images” but still I can see the preview and same for “Tab Search” is not appearing in the experiments… SO annoying OMG.

  2. I don’t like the hover previews. As I move across the screen they get activated and cover what I’m doing. They slow and disturb my work.
The worst are Windows one. They sit in the taskbar and so activate when working in Word or Excel which have their work point in the line immediately above.
I solved the Window problem by moving the taskbar to the top of the screen away from the work area. Less of a nuisance there than at the bottom,
At least the Chrome ones are normally at the top of the screen.

  3. Software arrogance. They are sitting around playing with colors, moving UI elements from one end to the other, implementing useless annoying features, and refusing to listen to long-time basic justified complaints LIKE ADDING A BUILT-IN NATIVE WARNING OPTION BEFORE CLOSING ALL TABS (not talking about ‘extensions’).

  4. Really wish Chrome at least gave users the choice to apply/not apply literal APPEARANCE changes instead of shoving it down everyone’s throats, there is literally no need to change what isn’t broken (and also looks a lot better) for the sake of “modernization”, Chrome developers have less aesthetic sense than my boy Junyama who’s blinder than a bat and interprets everything as glass-entirely-empty
