Recently I switched from an Android smartphone to Apple’s iPhone. I’m using Airtel 4G SIM in my iPhone and it’s a postpaid number. I receive monthly bill on 17th of every month and when I checked my bill, I found an unknown International number present in the bill.

An international SMS was sent to 00447786205094 number on January 01, 2023 at 18:16:15 PM. It was charged 5.00 rs per SMS.

I was surprised as I never sent any SMS from my phone recently. I checked my iPhone and no message was sent to this number from my phone.

+447786205094 Number is Related to Apple iMessage and FaceTime Applications

When I tried to check the phone number details, I found the culprit. I copied the number to Truecaller search box and I found that the phone number is associated with Apple FaceTime and iMessage services.

Many users have reported the number as spam. The mobile operator associated with the number is Vodafone. It’s a UK phone number.

Why does Your iPhone Send International SMS to +447786205094 Number?

Apple provides iMessage and FaceTime services to iPhone users and both services are enabled by default. To activate these services, your iPhone sends SMS to +447786205094 number occasionally.

When you restart your iPhone, you receive following notification pop-up:

FaceTime and iMessage

Your network provider may charge for SMS messages used to activate FaceTime and iMessage.

[Cancel] [OK]

If you tap on “OK” button, iPhone automatically sends an international SMS to +447786205094 number to activate iMessage and FaceTime services in your phone.

The message sent by iPhone is hidden or silent and the user doesn’t see the message sending process.

This is why you see SMS sent to +447786205094 foreign number in your mobile phone bill.

PS: In fact there is a support page at official Vodafone (Czech Republic) website mentioning the same fact about iPhone and +447786205094 number:

How to Stop iPhone from Sending Messages to +447786205094 Number?

You can prevent or block your iPhone from sending SMS messages to +447786205094 number in future by turning off both services in your phone.

If you don’t want to use iMessage and FaceTime applications in your iPhone, you can use following steps to disable these services and it’ll stop your iPhone from sending unwanted SMS messages to +447786205094 number:

1. Open Settings app in your iPhone, scroll down a little and tap on Messages option.

2. You’ll notice that iMessage option is turned on.

Tap on iMessage option to turn it OFF.

3. Go back to main Settings page and now tap on FaceTime option.

4. Again tap on FaceTime option to turn it OFF.

That’s it. Once you disable or turn off both iMessage and FaceTime options, your iPhone will stop sending unwanted SMS to +447786205094 international number.

IMPORTANT TIP:

In future, if you receive pop-up messages to activate iMessage or FaceTime services at startup, DO NOT click on OK button. Always tap on Cancel button. It’ll force iPhone to keep both services disabled and not send any SMS to any international number. If you accidentally tap on OK button, open Settings app again and turn off both iMessage and FaceTimes options again.
