Registry Tweaks to Disable Ads, Suggestions and Tips in Windows 10

We know that Windows 10 shows ads, suggestions and tips occasionally everywhere whether it’s Start Menu, Lock Screen, Settings app, Action Center, Windows Explorer, Cortana Search or various fly-outs.

Most of the times these advertisements and suggested content are shown in Windows 10 Start Menu. You may see Store apps suggestions to download and install them. Many times some suggested apps are automatically installed silently without any notification or alert. All these apps are sponsored or featured 3rd party apps which are silently installed on Windows 10 devices.

You may also see tips and suggestions regarding various Windows 10 features and Microsoft products in Settings app.

Many times you may see a welcome screen showing “Get even more out of Windows” message which notifies users about various Windows 10 features such as Windows Hello, Your Phone (linking your phone with PC), OneDrive, get Office 365, etc.

I’m sure no one will like to receive those ads, tips and suggestions in his computer while working on some important work. These ads and suggestions might annoy users.

In past we posted detailed tutorial to completely disable and turn off all kind of ads, suggestions and tips in Windows 10 operating system. You can read the tutorial at following link:

That’s why today in this article, we are going to share a small and easy to follow registry tweak which can be applied in Windows 10 to completely and permanently block all kind of ads, suggestions, tips, tricks and forced apps installations.

If you also want to get rid of all unwanted and unnecessary ads and suggestions in Windows 10, following steps will help you:

1. Press WIN+R keys together to launch RUN dialog box. Now type regedit and press Enter. It’ll open Registry Editor.

2. Now go to following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager

3. In right-side pane, you’ll see several DWORDs and Strings. Most of the DWORDs are set to 1 which means those ads and suggestions are enabled and activated in your Windows 10 device.

You can safely set following DWORDs to 0 to disable and turn off ads, suggestions and automatic apps installation in Windows 10. Just double-click on a DWORD and change its value to 0

  • FeatureManagementEnabled
  • OemPreInstalledAppsEnabled
  • PreInstalledAppsEnabled
  • PreInstalledAppsEverEnabled
  • RotatingLockScreenEnabled
  • RotatingLockScreenOverlayEnabled
  • SilentInstalledAppsEnabled
  • SoftLandingEnabled
  • SubscribedContent-310093Enabled
  • SubscribedContent-338387Enabled
  • SubscribedContent-338388Enabled
  • SubscribedContent-338389Enabled
  • SubscribedContent-338393Enabled
  • SubscribedContent-353694Enabled
  • SubscribedContent-353696Enabled
  • SystemPaneSuggestionsEnabled

The most important DWORDs which are responsible behind displaying ads and suggestions in Windows 10 are “SubscribedContent-……Enabled“. You’ll find lots of “SubscribedContent-Enabled” DWORDs in above mentioned key. Set all of them to 0 to disable all ads and suggestions.

Also regularly check the above mentioned key in Registry specially after installing new updates or upgrading to new Windows 10 versions i.e. feature updates. Chances are the DWORDs are reset to 1 automatically by Windows 10 after feature updates installation or more similar DWORDs are introduced and added to Registry to re-enable ads and suggestions.

So keep checking the key and if you find new DWORD added or any existing DWORD restored to 1, immediately change their value to 0 again.

  1. Thanks for the registry help with these Ads.
I also saw another on the top of the list in my registry…ContentDeliveryAllowed set to 1
    Should I disable it?

  2. @Errol
You can disable it but I’ll not advise as it might be used for other features in Windows 10. If you disable all DWORDs mentioned in the tutorial, there is no need to disable ContentDeliveryAllowed.

  3. Perfect. I have been looking to disable that all week and everything you suggested is working. Thanks
