OEM Configurator: Portable Utility to Customize OEM Information and Logo in System Properties of Windows
UPDATE: New version 2.0 released which comes with support for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. Now Windows XP users can also enjoy this tool. The tool now also supports 64-bit Windows editions in this new version.
Long time back we shared tutorials for configuring System Properties window in Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7:
- Add Customized Strings (OEM Information) in System Properties of Windows Vista and 7
- Add Customized Strings (OEM Information) and Logo in System Properties of Windows XP
With the help of the above mentioned tutorials, our reader “Hackerpunk1” developed a free portable utility called “OEM Configurator” which will allow you to customize Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and Windows 8.1 System Properties window look without modifying Windows registry manually. You just need to enter desired text and select desired logo file and it’ll do the rest automatically.

It also allows you to customize and change various items in System Properties window like Owner name, processor name, product ID, etc. Many times when we share our System Properties screenshot with others, we hide product ID from others. Now no need to do this. You can set any desired text string or numbers as Product ID using this tool. Don’t worry! It’ll not change the actual product ID in your system. It’ll just replace the text which is shown in System Properties window.
Following is a result of the output which you can get with the help of this awesome little tool. You can see extra entries like Manufacturer, Model, Phone number, Support hours, Website and logo in right-side in System Properties window:
You can download it using following link:

PS: You’ll need Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 or higher to use it.
NOTE: Some new and not very popular security software might show malware warning message when you try to download or run this software. Please ignore the message, its a false positive. Since this tool tries to modify Windows Registry, the security software incorrectly detects it as suspicious item. The software is absolutely safe to use.

Dear VG Can i know what is the OEM LOGO picture resolution size that fix ?
Can you save the OEM information from Windows 7 and load them into Windows 8?
^^ Yes. Simply take a backup of Registry key mentioned in following tutorial and import it in Windows 8:

Hi, awesome software, congratulations. Very cool.
I`m using command line commands to install silently softwares in windows. like .bat
is there a way to run your software via prompt comand to don`t need to write the information every time? I will use the same information every time.
Thanks in advance.
^^ No. But you can use Registry scripts to automate the task as mentioned in the links at beginning of the tutorial.
I can’t use this in Windows Server 2003. 🙁
I know this is probably quite old, but I just wanted to say that I’ve had much success using the OEM Configurator v2.0 Utility, thank you.
I was wondering, can we change other aspects of the System Properties screen?
Examples:
Windows Edition information, including changing/removing the Logo
Computer name, domain, & workgroup settings information
Windows Activation picture & link
Also, is a 96×96 .bmp image the largest we can have?

Thanks for the links VG.
I was able to remove the “Genuine Windows Activation” Logo & “Learn More Online” Link, which I am happy about, but I am having a problem w/some other aspects.
I used the Ultimate Guide link you supplied, but instead of removing the “Change Settings” link (in the Computer name, domain, & workgroup section), I ended up removing my Computer’s name from the Computer Name & Full Computer Name points (which I was able to reapply).
What do I look for to remove the “Change Settings” link & the “Change Product Key” link?
^^ I cant remember but it should be present near activation logo and “Learn More Online” link:

Darn-it. Thought I found it by deleting the line 269
()
When I checked, the link WAS gone, but reappeared a second later.
I’ve tried a few other lines w/the PID wording, but 269 was the closest that showed any slight change/removal. Oh well; I’ll keep trying.
I also tried changing the Windows Logo, & although it did work, I can still see the little pin-mark (I’m guessing it’s the copyright mark). Is it the copyright mark & can we get rid of it?
Is there a way to add a picture along w/our comments here?
^^ Upload the picture on an image uploading website and post the link here.
Thank you VG. I placed the link to my picture below.
This is what I have so far, but I’m still trying to remove the “Change Settings” link & “Change Product Key” link. I did remove the “Change Product Key” link on another 7 Pro computer, but I don’t remember how I did it – opps!
I think I’ve found the section in the systemcpl.dll file that refers to the “Change Settings” link. I found this under UIFILE>1001>1033 on line 223: .
So I’ve been testing it by removing lines 1 by 1 or a few at a time, replacing systemcpl.dll w/the modified one; undoing changes when it didn’t work; & so on. So far, no luck.

Thank you VG. I’ve added the link below.
The link shows what I’ve changed & removed so far.
I was able to remove the ‘Change product key’ on another family computer, but I didn’t write down what I did, so I have not been able to do this on my computer … D’OH!
I think I’ve found information about the ‘Change settings’ link. I found this in the systemcpl.dll file, UIFILE>1001>1033 line 223. I’ve deleted lines 1-by-1 & a few at a time (replacing files & testing each time); but so far it’s been a no go.
