News and Interests (Weather) Text or Font Looks Blurry in Windows 10 Taskbar

We know that Microsoft has added a new feature called “News and Interests” to Windows 10 operating system. This feature adds a new Weather icon or button to Taskbar notification area (system tray) which displays the current weather forecast information and if the user hovers mouse cursor over weather icon or clicks on the icon, a flyout panel opens showing latest news stories feed personalized to user’s locale or region.

The News & Interests feature was added or enabled in Windows 10 devices via a Windows Update KB5003214. Once the update is installed in a Windows 10 device, the feature and weather icon is automatically added to the Taskbar.

Many Windows 10 users didn’t like this new addition and found it unwanted, unnecessary or forced. Luckily, Microsoft allows users to easily disable or remove the Weather icon from Windows 10 Taskbar. But if you found the News and Interests feature useful and interesting and you are using it in your Windows 10 device, you might have noticed that the font or text shown by weather widget in Taskbar looks blurry.

Many readers have reported me this issue. According to readers, the text displayed by the weather widget looks fuzzy or zoomed in. They found the text hard to read and ugly.

If you are also finding News and Interests feature’s text blurred in your Windows 10 device, you are not alone. Even I also faced similar problem in my Windows 10 computer systems.

Following image shows how the text or font shown by weather widget in Windows 10 Taskbar looks pixelated or blurry in different themes such as Light, Dark and colorized:

I found that the text of weather information doesn’t look like as a text at all. It looks like a low resolution image such as bitmap or JPEG which has been added to the Taskbar. There is no sharpness or clarity in the text displayed by the weather widget. You can clearly see in the above image, the date and time looks very crisp and clear in the Taskbar. On the other hand, the weather text looks too much blurred.

Don’t worry! It’s not a problem in your computer hardware or Windows 10. It’s a known issue which has been acknowledged officially by Microsoft.

According to Microsoft release health hub, certain display configurations might cause blurry text on the news and interests button in Windows taskbar.

It means it’s now official that there is 100% some issue in the News and Interests feature and some Windows 10 devices might show blurry text in the weather widget on Taskbar.

The good news is that Microsoft is working on a fix and the issue should be resolved in near future via another Windows Update.

But we don’t know how much time will it take and when the new update will be released to fix this annoying issue.

In the mean time, as a workaround, you can either turn off the weather widget or set it to show Icon only using Taskbar context menu options which will hide the text shown by the weather widget.

PS: Some readers have reported that setting custom DPI scaling such as 125% fixes the blurry text issue.
