  1. I saw a modified xp install cd which displayed custom background images and text dialog during the actual install of xp professional sp3.. where is that edited?

  2. I have seen a few Windows XP setups with modded setup/system files, and would like to know which system files are modded to change the XP “setup screen” just before the desktop loads the first time, and the “create shortcut” dialogue box when creating an app shortcut??

Thanks in advance for a reply!

  3. Yes Robin your right for that you must edit winntbu.dll or WINNTBBA.DLL using resource hacker orresource tuner or even this software WinntbbuED_3.1.exe which is designed for windows xp

  4. do you have a List of Windows 10 System Files to Customize Using Resource Hacker
    many thanks in advance

  5. The UI resources listed here do not correspond with the actual png resources found in windows 10 explorer.exe.
    version 1709 10 Pro

  6. I want to remove the item and check box for “Hidden items” in windows 10 explorer. I opened every shell32.dll and shellstyle.dll as well as explorer.exe and explorer.exe.mui file that I could find with Resource Hacker and I did not see “dialog” menu for any of them except the mui file and it was not the right one.
I used resource hacker before on other computers to do this but the new windows 10 update replaced it and now I can’t seem to remove it again.
Please help keep students out of hidden folders
    Thanks

  7. Thanks for the tip, but that is not what I am trying to do. I would like to send you a picture of what I want to do. Is there a way for me to that?

  8. In file explorer-under the “view” tab there is a section labeled “show/hide”.
In that section there are 3 check boxes and descriptions next to each.
    1- “Item check boxes”
    2 – “File name extensions”
    3 – “Hidden items”

I want to remove the whole 3rd item – The check box and the words “Hidden items” from explorer.

  9. What about the file progress (copy, move, delete, etc) dialog in Windows 8+ and Windows 7? It doesn’t seem to be in ExplorerFrame.dll.mui, Explorer.exe.mui, or shell32.dll.mui.

  10. HI VG,

    Hope you are keeping well.

I am looking for an option to modify the Save as / Open Dialog boxes from Windows 10.

I tried to open the dll and the mui “Comdlg32.dll” and I couldn’t find any Dialog option.

Would you have any advice on the following?

    Thanks,

  11. ^^ The locations have changed in newer Windows versions. I’ll try to find the new file and let you know.
