I tweeted about the issue on official AskVG Twitter account and many readers confirmed the issue.

A few readers (Sonal Arora, Haitham Badarin, Rai Louise, PlanTLet – nature’s foods revive U, Amy RedLivinginBlue) also shared that they were also facing similar issues with Outlook.

For most of the people, the error message was containing one of the following error codes:

System.MissingMethodException

System.TypeLoadException

The issue seems global and now it is occurring worldwide. Many users from India, USA, Brazil, Australia, Colombia, Toronto, UK, Chile, Panama, etc countries have reported the issue to Microsoft.

The issue is not specific to Firefox web browser. People using other web browsers such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge are also facing this issue.

Microsoft has officially acknowledged the issue at Twitter using their official “Microsoft 365 Status” account.

We’re continuing to investigate the issue causing impact to Outlook for the web. After further investigation, the issue is more widespread than North America.

We applied a build change that did not recover service as expected. We’re reviewing alternate mitigation options to resolve this issue.

We’re conducting tests on a fix that has been showing positive results. Once the validation is complete, we’ll deploy the change to all affected infrastructure.

We’ve initiated our deployment of the fix, and users should experience incremental relief as the fix progresses. We’re closely monitoring the deployment to ensure that the service recovers as expected.

The fix has reached over half of the affected infrastructure, and we’re seeing a significant decrease in failure rates.

We’ve confirmed that deployment of the fix has completed, and impact has been mitigated. Additional details can be found in the admin center under EX610644.

Still a few Outlook users are reporting about the issue. It seems now the issue is occurring on web version only. The desktop email client applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Windows Mail, etc have started working fine.

PS: If you switched to new Outlook UI using “Try the new Outlook” toggle button, you might face the issue as the new UI utilizes web version of Outlook. To resolve the issue, switch to old classic Outlook UI using the same toggle option and you should be able to use Outlook in your client app.
