[Fix] Xbox Achievements Not Working in Windows 10

Recently an AskVG reader “Naveed” contacted us regarding an issue related to Xbox achievements in Windows 10 operating system. He told us that suddenly achievements in Xbox games downloaded from Windows Store stopped working.

Xbox achievements work like a reward for the users and encourage them to continue playing the games. Different Xbox games have different kind of achievements, some achievements are quite simple such as finishing a particular level in a game but some are difficult such as finding some hidden items in a game, finishing the hardest level of a game, etc.

If you are using Windows 10 operating system and Xbox achievements are not working for you, this tutorial will help you in fixing this issue.

Actually this problem occurs when a required service “Connected User Experiences and Telemetry” is not running in Windows 10. This service is essential for Xbox achievements feature and if this service is unavailable in a computer, the achievements will no longer work. According to the description of this service, it enables features that support in-application and connected user experiences.

Sometimes Windows 10 users disable this service to stop telemetry and data collection in Windows 10 for privacy reasons which causes Xbox achievements to stop working.

To make Xbox achievements working again in your Windows 10 system, you’ll need to enable the service again using following steps:

1. First of all open Services Manager using services.msc command in RUN dialog box / search box or by using other methods as mentioned in STEP 1 of following tutorial:

Double-click on the entry and make sure “Automatic” is selected in Startup type drop-down box.

If its not set to Automatic, change the startup type to Automatic and click on Apply button. Now click on Start button to immediately start the service.

That’s it. Now check your Xbox game and the achievements will start working again without any problem.

  1. Only games with achievements on Windows 10 that work for me are Minecraft and Microsoft Mahjong. Other games, such as Microsoft Jigsaw and Asphalt 8 will not pop achievements onto my actual Xbox profile.

  2. This solution does not resolve the problem. The issue persist despite the service running or not.

  3. I realize this article is a few years old (it’s August 2021 at the time of this comment), but give this option a go. Worked like a charm for me! I had about a dozen achievements pop after I started the service.

  4. I can confirm that this solution works 100% for Microsoft Solitaire Collection. As soon as the service was enabled, the game started counting my wins towards reaching achievement goals, which wasn’t happening previously. I also finally received an achievement for flipping over my first card, which hadn’t been awarded earlier. Thanks for this easy and simple solution!
