[Fix] Modern Apps Unable to Connect to Internet in Windows 10
Some Windows 10 users have reported this issue to me. Suddenly all modern apps (also referred as UWP apps, Microsoft Store apps, Metro apps) stop connecting to Internet. There is no Internet connectivity in all modern UWP apps. All other desktop apps and software programs can connect to Internet without any problem. Only modern apps can’t connect to Internet.
These modern apps include Microsoft Edge web browser, Microsoft Store, Mail, Calendar, Cortana, Maps, Messaging, People, Feedback hub, etc. In fact any modern app downloaded and installed from Microsoft Store such as games, etc also won’t connect to Internet. All apps ask you to check your Internet connection.

METHOD 1: Enable IPv6 in Internet Connection Properties
The first thing you should check is the IPv6 status in your Internet connection properties. If IP version 6 is disabled in connection properties, this annoying problem may occur.
To check IPv6 status or enable IPv6 in your Internet connection properties, follow these steps:
1. Right-click on Network icon present in Taskbar notification area (system tray) and select “Open Network & Internet settings” option.
2. It’ll open Network & Settings window. Click on “Network and Sharing Center” link given at the bottom in right-side pane.
3. It’ll open Network and Sharing Center window. Now click on your Internet connection link given next to the label “Connections:“.

PS: Alternatively, you can directly open Network Connections window using following command in RUN dialog box as mentioned here:
explorer shell:::{7007ACC7-3202-11D1-AAD2-00805FC1270E}
4. It’ll open Internet connection details window. Click on “Properties” button.
5. Now make sure “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)” is enabled i.e. checked.
If it’s not enabled, enable the checkbox and click on OK button.
Now check any modern UWP app and it should be now able to connect to Internet without any issue.
METHOD 2: Fix Using Registry Editor
Many times people or 3rd party tweaking software add a key to Windows Registry to disable IPv6 protocol. It might be possible that the key is also present in your Windows 10 device which is causing this issue.
Check out following steps to remove the key from Registry:
1. Press “WIN+R” key combination to launch RUN dialog box then type regedit and press Enter. It’ll open Registry Editor.
2. Now go to following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters
3. In right-side pane, look for following DWORD:
DisabledComponents
4. If the above mentioned DWORD exists in your machine, delete it.
Restart your computer to take effects.
METHOD 3: Set Your Internet Connection Profile as Public
Sometimes setting your connection profile as Public may also solve this issue.
1. Right-click on Network icon present in Taskbar notification area (system tray) and select “Open Network & Internet settings” option.
2. It’ll open Network & Settings window. Click on “Change connection properties” link given in right-side pane.
3. Now select “Public” option.
Now check your modern apps and they should connect to Internet now.

Microsoft says this is a bug.
^^ Yes. But this is not exclusive to October 2018 update. I have received emails from readers which faced this problem in previous feature updates as well.
