Recently I talked about Firefox Focus web browser app for Android in following article:

Firefox Focus: A Basic, Minimal and Lightweight Browser for Smartphones

When I switched to Firefox Focus from Google Chrome on my Android mobile phone, I really started liking this tiny browser app. Firefox Focus is very lightweight and fast web browser. The best thing about the browser is its minimal user experience. The UI and the Settings page are very basic and minimal and don’t provide any extra or unwanted features. Anyone who wants a basic and minimal web browser app for Android, Firefox Focus is the best choice.

But suddenly I started facing a strange and very annoying issue while using the browser. Whenever I tried to take a screenshot of Firefox Focus app, it displayed following error message on screen:

Can’t take screenshot due to security policy.

I understand that it’s the default Android warning or error message which is displayed when the screenshot feature is blocked on some apps such as banking, UPI payment, etc due to security or privacy issues. But I couldn’t understand why Firefox Focus app was showing this error? Why the screenshot functionality was restricted by Mozilla team in the browser app?

It was very annoying as I was unable to take screenshots of Firefox Focus app to use in articles. Finally after some troubleshooting, I was able to resolve the issue and taking screenshots successfully.

It was actually an option with the name “Stealth” present on Firefox Focus Settings page which was enabled and causing the screenshot issue. I don’t know whether the option was enabled by default or I activated the option manually while checking the Settings page.

As soon as I disabled the Stealth mode option, the screenshot issue was fixed and I was able to capture screenshots of Firefox Focus without any issue.

If you are also facing problems while trying to take screenshot of Firefox Focus app, you just need to turn off Stealth mode option in Firefox Focus Settings page.

Following steps will help you in disabling Stealth option and enabling screenshot feature in Firefox Focus web browser app in your Android smartphone:

1. Tap on 3-dots Menu icon present on the top-right corner of Firefox Focus app and select Settings option.

2. Now select Privacy & Security option present on Settings page.

3. Scroll down and you’ll see Stealth option. Its description says “Hide web pages when switching apps and block taking screenshots”.

Disable the Stealth option by settings the toggle button to OFF.
