Administrators can control the availability of this feature using the StandaloneHubsSidebarEnabled policy. (How-to Disable Guide)
  • Google Docs Offline Extension Automatic Installation: Google Docs Offline extension is provided by Google to allow users to work on Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drive without internet access. This extension also provides advanced cut, copy, and paste functionalities across Google Editors. The Google Docs Offline extension will be pre-installed and will be disabled by default for Microsoft Edge users. When a user navigates to Google Docs, the extension will be auto-enabled. Administrators can use the ExtensionSettings and ExtensionInstallBlocklist policies to block the auto-installation of the Google Docs Offline extension. (More Info)

Comments

NOTE: Older comments have been removed to reduce database overhead.

  1. Now I don’t need Google Chrome or other Chromium based browser because Microsoft Edge is now Chromium based, It’s faster as compare to Google Chrome.

  2. I can only get the Edge Enterprise x64 (71MB) as a full standalone installer .
    All the other versions ( Edge for Home-users !) are all online-versions ( 1,75MB)
HOW( ?) to get the standalone installer for Home-users x64……..???

  3. I downloaded the standalone (enterprise) Edge msi installer 79.0.309.68. I wanted to keep the legacy Edge, so I patched the registery and then installed the new Edge. Here’s the interesting part:

I had long ago manually placed a shortcut for the legacy version of Edge on my desktop. After the installation of Edge Chromium, that shortcut continued to work. However, the installation created desktop and Start Menu shortcuts named “Microsoft Edge Legacy” that failed in the manner described by others. Long and short – also manually create a desktop icon for the old Edge before installing the new. Can’t tell yet whether it will continue to work after future Edge updates.

Related – Repeated attempts running MicrosoftEdgeSetup.exe as Admin failed to install the new Edge. I continued to get errors that Edge couldn’t communicate with the internet and to check my firewall, despite the fact that I disabled the firewall and AV (Win Defender).

  4. There are some older people who like things to stay the same. I hate microsoft for what they have done. I had alot going on right now and I don’t even know my computer after microsoft and there big ideas to force these changes. I just want my old microsoft edge back. I am so very frustrated with the technicians and their bright ideas.

  5. This update makes me fully ditch Chrome! I really miss that fullscreen drop down on legacy Edge, but it’s here now yeay! One thing Microsoft should really do is using DNS over HTTPS by default (not from flags) like Chrome.

  6. Hi VG and thank you for this info, I have drop Firefox because on my configuration it was so slow that was making my life impossible and I have embraced for good Edge and the difference in speed is amazing.

  7. I am facing 2 problems in browser window (or browser tab).
    1. When I select plus ” + ” button for open new tab (new browser window) in Microsoft Edge, then it takes much time to open tab completely, but in other browser, tabs are immediately opened, even if addons / extensions installed and enabled.
    2. When I open new tab without internet connection, then still it takes much time to open, however Microsoft Edge browser logo appear in offline.

I want to speed-up browser tab in Edge browser(chromium based).

  8. Recently I made a clean and successful installation of Windows 10 Pro, version 10.0.15063 and build number 15063. After about an hour of the installation, I discover that Windows Defender will not remain opened but closes immediately it opens. Likewise the wifi icon, the search engine icon on the task bar and the notification icon all behave like windows defender but with a difference of not popping up at all. As a result, I cannot update the virus definition of the windows defender.

I will appreciate any idea of how to resolve the abnormal behavior of windows defender and some of the services on this version of windows.. Thanks.

  9. They still haven’t addressed one of this browser’s biggest faults that put’s me off using it regularly. The size and spacing of saved favourites is still ridiculous. The spacing between each bookmark and bookmark folder is far too wide. Should at very least have option to view in compact style and sizing. Like many others people, this alone is why I still prefer to use Chrome. That will only change when they fix this issue.

  10. For me the Edge’s biggest drawback is the slow speed on which the Edge’s favorites list opens. I’ve a SSD drive, below 30 links but the sluggy opening speed won’t change even if I empty the list completely.

  11. Sir, I cannot perform “Print” on some web pages after update Edge browser to version 101 using Ctrl+P, even I tested your website pages for print, but print option not working. What is the reason of this problem.

  12. I am no longer facing timing issue on opening new tabs after introduce “startup boost” in edge browser, but in 101, I am facing print issue.

  13. Okay, this might be nonsense for most people but for Win7/8/8.1 users of the MSEdge (as well as Google Chrome) are getting the infobar message about the end of support reminder of that OSes (Similar to what we get before in Windows XP and Vista) it said like this:

“To get future **any Chromium-based browsers (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, etc.)** updates, you’ll need Windows 10 or later. This computer is using Windows 8.1 (or Windows 7/8 depends on what you use)”

But to my knowledge, this infobar should be disabled with regedit but this was for Google Chrome only, and I’m not so sure for Microsoft Edge tho..

  14. I think latest version is – Microsoft Edge Version 112.0.1722.48 (Official build) (64-bit).

    At least this is mine.

  15. Very few notifications appearing in latest build 117.0.2045.31 – clicking on them in notification area does not do anything, appears to stutter before disappearing; still same with 117.0.2045.35. Latest Win 10 22H2 19045.3448

  16. Hi. Seems this update made some extra changes in Windows 10 – it completely disable IE11.
Until now each update used to put some plugins in IE that when you wanted to start IE opened Edge instead. But deleting these plugins would return IE back.
Now… no more plugins. The only way to start IE is to make a shortcut to a vbs and use it every time you need IE.
Any ideas on how to fix this in other ways ?

  17. Have Win11, MS Edge 119.0.2 – getting MS Edge – not a compatible browser error, and will not load the website.

  18. Microsoft Edge update 121.0.2277.83 has broken the ability to open file URLS (File://). With the IntranetFileLinksEnabled policy enabled, the links are supposed to open up in File Explorer. After Edge updates from 120 to 121, clicking on links pointing to a File URL (starts with Fiile://) results in a blank page with “about:blank#blocked” in the Address field. My organization’s Intranet has a menu with links pointing to various network shares, this is causing a lot of headaches.
