Comments

NOTE: Older comments have been removed to reduce database overhead.

  1. This new release prevents clicking on an e-mail link to open your browser – there seem to be many complaints about this, and many attempts at a solution – none of which worked for me…

I would like to go back to the previous version but the prefix “52.0” isn’t listed as such, therefore it is difficult to know which one to go back to…

I have no idea why they would change this…it’s extremely annoying…

  2. ^^ You can download older versions of Thunderbird from following links:

    releases.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/
    filehippo.com/download_thunderbird/
    filehorse.com/download-thunderbird/old-versions/
    filehorse.com/download-thunderbird/old-versions/

  3. My version of Thunderbird (English language US, Windows) is 52.9.1 and “Help About” says I have the current version. The download link on the Thunderbird web page shows it will indeed download ver 60. Is there any advantage or disadvantage to waiting for Thunderbird to eventually and automatically download the update to 60?
Thanks for all of your great email articles.

  4. ^^ The new version 60.0 is available for manual download. Thunderbird is not releasing it via automatic update. So you’ll need to manually download and upgrade to version 60.0.

  5. Thunderbird 68.7.0 (for Windows10): Problem sending Group Emails. Thunderbird (back-when) used to expand Group Address List on Send operation. Lately its been expanding the Group Address List on Save. With Version 68.7.0, it does not expand Group Address List at all. Instead it displays tries to send: “Group Name “, resulting in a send error, while trying to send to an empty Group…. I tried rolling back to Previous 68.6.0 Version, but was unable to figure-out how to do that (i.e. I could not find the Previous Version Download location)….

I have a Windows10 (64-bit) PC using (32-bit) Version of Thunderbird. {For now, and am reluctant to move to your Beta 64-bit Version of Thunderbird, until Fully Released….} I have been using Netscape/ Flock/ Thunderbird since 1997….. Otherwise, Thank You!

  6. This issue was previously fixed back in 2014 with that version 38.2.0:
    bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1060901
Go to bottom/end of above for reference fix.
Also reference (This is how I found the above):

My previous comment should have had: “Group Name {Group Name} {}”,
    where {} == greater-then | less-than characters.

  7. VG- Is version 91 for Thunderbird correct? My Thunderbird is version 78.13.0 which says it’s up to date. My version of Firefox is 91.
    Many thanks.

  8. ^^ Please check the IMPORTANT NOTE given in the article:

IMPORTANT: Thunderbird 91.0 is only available as direct download from the official website (download link given below) and not as an upgrade from Thunderbird version 78.0 or earlier. A future release will provide updates from earlier versions.

  9. Has anyone open Task Manager and noticed when you open Firefox web browser, their are several instances of Firefox. Only one website you may open and here you have over 5, 6, 7 or more instances of Firefox working. I open only one instance of Firefox and several instances working in the background.
VG is it possible you can explain this situation? Thanks.

  10. ^^ This feature is called multiprocessing which is used by many software. Instead of running everything under a single process, different parts of the program are run using separate process. You may see multiple instances of Firefox running in Task Manager due to different processes such as add-ons, tabs, browser UI, etc are run using separate instances of Firefox. It’s quite normal.

  11. I just updated my version of Thunderbird to 102.2.2 under windows 10 and I have lost all my Event that I had created before the update?
Has anyone had the same issue, if so, any idea how to solve it ?

  12. When will the serious failure of 102.anything be fixed so someone not a computer programmer can upgrade from 91.whatever without destroying their system? Asking for 10 million people… :O)

  13. Unable to copy e mail contact information into another folder. If you have a mac, avoid this version. It will not work properly on my mac 10.14.6.

I tried not to let Thunderbird update, but could find nothing to turn off autoupdate. Have used thunderbird for many years.

    Any help?

  14. 3-4 days ago, Thunderbird quit accessing my yahoomail accounts. (Gmail still works OK.) I get these useless (to me) messages from Yahoo like: “Please enable cookies in your browser and sign in again.” Which browser? I use three – Opera, Edge, Chrome! And all have cookies enabled, AFAIK. My Thunderbird version is 102.61. Would 102.7.1 fix the problem? If so, how do I upgrade to it? (I can’t find a command to do that, and since I can’t remember ever being asked whether I want to update TB or not, I’ll guess that that has been automatic over all the years that I’ve used TB…) I’ve searched via Google; can’t find anyone else struggling with this problem. HELP!!!!! (please…)

  15. PS: Thunderbird tells me that it was last modified on 12/20/2022 — and everything worked just fine all the way through January and early February.

  16. I am quite wary of updating because my last update caused total mayhem.
I am on 102.5.1 now and it is irregular in downloading emails. I can see them on my phone but then they do not come in on my computer skipping hours at a time, then coming in ok. Should I compact or repair folders? Should I copy the URI info? If so, do not know how to get there.
Will updating to 102.7.2 fix this?
    Thanks.

  17. ^^ I’ll advise you to update to the latest version as it’s a bug fix version and might solve the issues faced by you.

  18. I still have a lot of problems V.102.10.0 with corrupted emails , I need to repair folders every single time I open the Inbox or any other folder , once I repair it, read it,close it , it goes back to the corrupted mode because if I need to check my email again, I need to repair again every single folder as the Inbox , send etc…once again !!

Any tips to fix this pandemonium of bugs??! from Thunderbird V 102.10.0

  19. ^^ It might be possible that your Thunderbird profile is corrupted. I can only advise to create a new profile or reinstall Thunderbird.

  20. Thunderbird version 102.12.0 on a Windows 7 system locked on “checking mail server capabilities” since the latest update. Prior, for years – all was well.

    What to do?

  21. I can no longer retrieve emails from my optimum server to my Thunderbird 112.15.0. (Win 10) No problems with gmail. I changed nothing, and this issue began on 9/8. No problems retrieving to my tablets or phone.
Oddly, I have no issue retrieving to my old Win XP with TBird.

    Any ideas?

  22. Dear Mozilla – Quite incredible…115.3.1 I have wasted so much time because the new TB does not work on my clean (no other applications running) W7 install. The program will appear to run but as soon as I try to do anything at all I am always presented with greyed out inaction with the last century advice of “program not responding”. I had thought we had moved on from this. On first install it worked and I had installed several add-ons which seemed to work and thought that might be the problem but, as you advised, I tried troubleshoot mode (opening with shift key) and program appears to open (with five/six tabs not loading!). However, when I try and do anything at all, the whole program greys out with (not responding). Even downloaded and reinstalled twice with repeat problems. Reminds me of install problems of 25-30 years ago…
I’ve been using TB for years no problem but have now lost it after spending such a long time without success!!! AND the program has left me without the ability to access all my current and historical work and private emails!!!!!
Kindly advise issues to resolve and please email me a much earlier version from about 10 years ago so I can work again.
    Regards Rick

  23. Just to note Thunderbird updated to 115.3 flawlessly on my PC running Arch Linux using the default system official software repositories, and all the way back from version 24.
Sorry for the fellow users who experience issue on their system and hope askvg’s detailed tips can help.

  24. Switched computer on, clicked on TB and I received an update which self loaded and asked me for my email address and a password which now it refuses to accept, thus preventing me from accessing any new or old emails and even on attempting to access a second email account I am refused. Used TB for more years than is good for me and never had anything like happen, believe me when I say Frustration really doesn’t cover it

  25. Ever since the update I’ve had nothing but issues. I can not move a read email into a folder. I can move it, but it doesn’t stay there – it returns to the email list. Some emails I can’t open.
I’ve used TB for years with tiny issues here or there – this isn’t a tiny issue, its huge.
