Phone Link App Allows Connection between iOS Devices and Windows 11 PC

Phone Link app is an official app released by Microsoft for Windows 11 operating system. This app was also known with a few other names such as Your Phone or Your Phone Companion in past. This app allows mobile phone users to connect their Android smartphone or Apple iPhone with their Windows 11 PC and access the phone data and manage calls and messages.

In past, the Phone Link app supported Android devices only but now Microsoft has updated the app with iOS devices support. So Apple devices users can also use Phone Link add to connect and pair their iOS devices with Windows 11 computer.

Phone Link App Features List

Once you install Phone Link app and connect your iPhone with the help of this app, you’ll be able to perform following operations on your iPhone right from your Windows 11 PC:

  • Make and receive phone calls
  • Send and receive messages (limited support for iMessage)
  • Access and manage device contacts
  • Manage iPhone notifications from your Windows 11 PC
  • Access iPhone photos right from your PC

How to Use Phone Link App to Connect iPhone with Windows 11 PC

Phone Link app comes preinstalled with Windows 11 and can be used from Start Menu. If you don’t have Phone Link app installed in your PC, you can download and install it from Microsoft Store.

After installing the app, launch it and you’ll see options to connect and pair Android or iPhone devices. Select the appropriate option and follow the instructions to pair your mobile phone with your PC.

You’ll need to scan a QR code provided by the app using your phone and enter confirmation code during setup process.

The app will also ask form some permissions to access your iPhone data, grant those permissions and your iPhone should be connected and paired successfully with your Windows 11 PC.

Limitations of Phone Link App with iPhone

There are some limitations which you may face while using the Phone Link app with your iPhone:

  • Phone Link app only works with iPhone having iOS 14 or higher versions.
  • Phone Link app requires Bluetooth connection between iPhone and Windows 11 PC.
  • Phone Link app doesn’t support iPadOS and macOS at the moment, so you can’t connect your iPad using the app.
  • iMessage feature is limited by iOS, so the Phone Link app doesn’t support media sharing (sending image/video) and group messaging. Also messages are session based and will only show on Windows PC when your phone is connected to PC.

Roll Out of iOS Support in Phone Link App

Microsoft is rolling out iOS devices support in Phone Link app in phases, so it might take a few days in completing the roll out. According to Microsoft, all Windows 11 users will get access to the new feature by mid-May 2023. Windows 11 users who receive the new Phone Link update for iOS, will see the option to pick iPhone on Phone Link app homepage. Users who haven’t received the app update, will see the pick iPhone button greyed out with a coming soon message.

  1. Hi VG, after reading your above article on the Microsoft Phone Link app, I have it installed on both my Android phone and Desktop PC which are both successfully linked by Bluetooth. I can send and receive SMS messages fine, however when attempting a call, the desktop microphone will not work with the Phone Link app. I have tested all settings many times and the microphone is working fine with all other applications I use. Is this a known issue or is there a solution I can try. Thank you.

  2. Yes, I have check the privacy settings for the microphone and access is set to ON. However I do not see the Phone Link app listed under Privacy & Security > Microphone. And it is also not listed under “Desktop apps that have previously access your microphone are listed here”. Tried uninstall and reinstalling the driver for the microphone as well.
