The WWF format is a PDF that cannot be printed out. It is technically very similar to the PDF format, with the key exception that in WWF documents the print option is completely blocked. It’s a simple way to avoid unnecessary printing. So here’s your chance to save trees and help the environment. Decide for yourself which documents don't need printing out – then simply save them as WWF.
It's easy to avoid printing by saving the document as a PDF. But even PDFs can sometimes also be printed out. So to stop unnecessary printing and encourage a new awareness about the use of paper, World Wide Fund has developed a new, green file format: WWF. A format that can’t be printed out.
How To Use:
The WWF software will install a "SAVE AS WWF" option in the print menu. Just install the software, select this option and the document is saved in WWF format.
WWF documents can be opened with most programs that can open PDFs and can be e-mailed like any other.

Can't you just not print it?

There are tree farms where trees are regrown on the same land over and over to be used as paper... the ironic thing is that this actually STORES more carbon than just deforesting regular land! Sorry VG, I think the conserving paper idea is crazy. It may save some waste, but its not truly a green idea.

I can even write an article why it won't work.
Then what's the point in having a printer?

I downloaded and attempted installing this software up-until Kaspersky scanned the compressed file and found this worm: PDM.Worm.p2p.generic
My screen blacked out, and had to roll-back the installation afterwards...
Anyone else get this/similar (?)

great idea, but i seriously doubt it will be implemented on a large scale. a warning message on existing or future developed PDF editors about the cons of printing should be a better option.

but can we convert it back to pdf????

This will just make people profit from coding WWF to PDF converters.
