Currently I'm running XP/SP3. Which I've learned to enjoy. I considered Vista when it was released. But there were too many unresolved problems that never got addressed/resolved. Go figure. I'm glad I never took the plunge.

Windows 7 on the other hand sounds to be more stable and rounded to take on more without troubles. Although I have yet to try the beta of Windows 7, I'm hesitant to make the purchase only to find out there are bugs right from the get go. I'm NOT playing lab rat for M$

Can anyone confirm that Microsoft Flight Simulator X (and other single core based games) run without hiccups? My reason for being specific is that M$ canned the Flight Simulator X program some months ago. IMHO, bad move M$.

Machine specs are as follows:

Prescott 3.0ghz
2gigs Corsair Ram
ATI Radeon HD3800

When I think of minimum requirements for an OS and the hardware don't measure-up, well what do you get... anyone? BSOD!!!
When your hardware can't fulfill the requirements for a slick running OS (even more so Win-7), then expect to experience some hickups - your pc 'hits the wall/BSOD'.
And, if your RAM is running out, your pc WILL hang-up and depending on the program's requirements at that time, it may remain hung-up for until you finally force shutdown.

At least add some RAM, even if you can't upgrade video/processor/resolution/or heat control in your box/notebook. RAM always makes a difference.
I used to run a notebook with 1.83GHz @ 1GB RAM - BSOD; then upgraded to 4GB RAM and now she's running sweet baby!

Nice requirements. I tested it on a 1.9ghz CPU and a 1 gig memory and works fine. Just like XP with 5 or so add- ons to make it look like 7. Consumed only 11 gigs on my hard disk.

^^ Yes. The specs are applicable to all editions.

@peter pan
Both use different hardware structure. You can install x86 OS version on x64 hardware but the reverse is not possible.

@Nikolaj
Yes. If you should definitely install x64 version.
