Found the error. I copied the names from this site, to be sure there was no errors. But in thoes names there is not a "x" but a multiply sign "×", which will not work.

Nice guide.

I have it working flawlessly with the backgroundDefault.jpg, but I can't get it to work with the specific resolution images.

My machine is running 1280x1024, but even though there is a file named background1280×1024.jpg, it always uses the default.

Any help is appreciated.

^ I figured it out.

Turns out the actual file size limit is 246kb. The 252kb file I had, which was under 256kb was too big. I reduced the file to under 246kb and it's working now.

I used to be able to do this. Then I switched my Windows Aero to basic for a few minutes and switched back to aero. Now no matter what file I put in the oobe>info>backgrounds folder (even if they worked before), it won't work. The current file I'm trying is less than 256kb (it's 252kb), is in jpg format and is named "backgroundDefault.jpg" but it won't load.

Any idea why it's doing this?
