A new Windows 7 build 7057 has been leaked. It was compiled just 6 days back. It'll expire on 02/03/2010.

There are lots of changes in this new build. Some of them are as follows:

  • The infamous UAC issue has been fixed. In previous Windows 7 builds when you changed the UAC level, Windows didn't show any prompt message. It was dangerous from security point of view as a malware can turn off UAC on a system easily.
  • New user display pics
  • New Wallpapers
  • New Icons for few programs
  • New login screen

Following are some screenshots:

About Windows:

NOTE: This new build comes with a new bug. A "desktop.ini" file opens in Notepad at each startup.

You can fix it using following steps:

1. Open Windows Explorer and go to "Organize -> Folder and Search Options" and click on View tab. Now enable "Show hidden files, folders and drives" option and disable "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)" option.

2. Now provide following commands one by one in RUN or Startmenu Search box:

shell:startup
shell:common startup

It'll open "Startup" folder for current user and all users respectively.

3. You'll see "desktop.ini" file present in each folder. Delete it.

4. That's it. Restart your system and now you'll not see the annoying file at startup.

Thanks to Neowin and Geeksmack for this news and screenshots...

^^ No idea. May be a corrupt file problem or a bug?

  • hey vg plz tell me from where i can get this build??

  • VG

^^ Its not available to public but is available on lots of torrent sites. A public release will happen very soon most probably at last of April or start of May.

  • ^^are those torrent operating system are reliable...?? i had heard that they have modified those os with trojans that are deep down embedded in them... can we trust them...or plz if u r kind than give me the link of the torrent that u have downloaded and u trust
    thanx that'll be helpful....

  • Lubana: I wouldn't worry at all about trojans and malware in them. Once you downloaded the ISO file, all you have to do is to check MO5 and SHA1, if they match you're fine, if they don't: delete the ISO and start looking for it in a different place.

  • Thnx For The Info "Legba".

  • Hello all,

I Have A Problem For You and no doubt you all dont know this

BUT STOP DOWNLOADING WINDOWS SEVEN MICROSOFT DEPEND ON IT YOU ALL ARE MAKING THIS GREAT OS EVEN LAMER THAT VISTA

is you dont understand let me elaberate:
the beta was a public relese for the public and it sends infomation back to microsoft on your problems to get them fixed

all these versions you are downloading are for internal use only like dell ibm etc... there the ones making the gui changes but you guys the public are the ones making all the core changes like security and feedback and error reports so while you are all playing with internal releses you are also making it incredabiliti unstable at the same time

the beta and the RC 70xx are just as stable as each other as of today i have downloaded 40mb in windows seven BETA updates witch is like 40 problems fixes thanks to people downloading and using the correct version

[search anyware on the net it will say the same thing]

    Thankyou for your time

    Narcarsiss out

And thanks for the screen shots the new logon screen looks good :D

  • well , im agree with Narcosis even i have 7057 build installed and i really love it ( been stuckin with Xp for the ages and just a few months been using Vista ) so i guess and hope that W7 will become the number one OS since great susess of Xp

but im not ptetty sure that usin non public or internal builds we can help to make developers the best OS eva

  • Sir i really appreciate the hard work u've put in to transform XP to look like Vista and Windows 7. in the past i ahd used some transformation packs taht really ate a lot of my computer resources, but this hacking the shell thing is great! However, i had some doubts with these..
1] I used VistaDrive Status Utility which worked great for a few days iuntill i did some tranformations for Windwos7...( i use winxp sp2)..and after that the drive status utility doesnt work...i reinstalled but then too doesnt work...
2] next i used the WFP patcher to install some dialog boxes etc. and when i rebooted the computer, the drive icons were gone, they showed like the Default icon (the 'three-horizontal dots-on-a-white-background' type of icon).
3] i used tuneup to get the drive icons to windows default HDD icons..and since then the drive utility has been installed and uninstalled several times with no effect :(

KINDLY ADVISE SOMEHTING ON THIS PLS..
    Thanks, VIbhor
