Its an update over previous VistaVG RTM theme.

This theme has been made for Windows XP users who want to have "Windows Vista" look in their Windows. This theme can make your Windows XP look like Windows Vista.

"VistaVG" is the first Windows Vista look-a-like theme for Windows XP and almost all other themes available on net are based on it.

FIX:

1. Chevron BUG fixed.

2. Startmenu image BUG fixed.

And a few other BUGs fixed...

NEW:

1. A new style "Black" has been added to the theme after a lot of demand for black titlebar.

2. A separate theme for Startmenu Searchbar lovers. It shows the Vista searchbar in Start menu but its fake. You need "LSPatch" to use it.

And more...

UPDATE:

1. Titlebar Text is shown in Left now.

2. Common Tasks are also shown in Left but an extra "shellstyle.dll" file is included for bottom common tasks.

3. Aero style for 32x icon size is default now.

4. Lots of new Vista images, like "All Programs" arrow, Explorer arrows, Startmenu images, Logoff/Shutdown images, etc.

5. A few colors changed.

And lots of other small updates...

HOW TO USE:

1. Extract the contents and you'll get a folder.

2. In this folder, you'll get 4 more folders:

=> Bottom Common Tasks (This folder contains "shellstyle.dll" file for showing common tasks in explorer at bottom.)

=> Fonts (This folder contains Segoe UI fonts required for the theme. Copy them to "%windir%\Fonts" folder.)

=> Styler Toolbar (This folder contains Style toolbar for explorer. To know more about Styler and how to use it, visit following link:

How to Install and Apply Styler Toolbar Skin in Windows XP Explorer?

=> Theme (This folder contains the main theme.)

3. Copy all contents in "Theme" folder to "%windir%\Resources\Themes\" folder.

4. Now you can set the theme using Desktop Properties.

5. Also make sure you have patched the "uxtheme.dll" file to allow 3rd party visual styles, if its not patched, then download and run the UXtheme Patcher from here:

For XP SP3 Users - Download UXTheme Patcher
For XP SP2 Users - Download UXTheme Patcher

NOTE: Avira anti-virus might show a virus alert in the pack which is a false positive alert. Actually it prompts about "LSPatch.exe" file which is included in the pack. LSPatch.exe doesn’t contain any virus. It modifies the "Explorer.exe" file which is a system file. That’s why Avira detects a CloseApp riskware in the file. No other anti-virus detect any suspicious item in the pack. So you can safely ignore the alert.

    @Alex

Please change the style in "Appearance" tab. There are 2 styles, one for 32x icon size and one for 48x icon size.

  • gettin' a virus warning here, too :???:

can you explain that? I mean these are your files, what's wrong with 'em??

    "... Droppers DR/Tool.CloseApp.A"

    it's riskware, ain't it?

Files are fine. No need to worry. It must be a false virus warning. Which anti virus are you using?

  • i have got the same problem as Alex (http://www.fotosik.pl/pokaz_obrazek/f987406dc810fb86.html), but changing style in "Appearance" tab doesn't solve the problem (i tried both ways: Aero32>Aero48 and Aero48>Aero32). but it does make a new problem - three icons placed in upper-right corner of every window dissapear or become very tinny (http://www.fotosik.pl/pokaz_obrazek/4a08d84cb1d7dfcc.html).
i know how to get back to the proper icons (i just set up again your skin in Styler), but i cannot find any solution for the problem with start menu.

thanks for your help in advance. i don't know where i did a mistake.

The theme has no problem. I think the Font DPI has been increased in your Windows which is causing this problem. Try to set it to Default 96 DPI from Desktop properties.

  • Thank you for your immediate reply. You were right, changing Font DPI helped, but not completely: http://www.fotosik.pl/pokaz_obrazek/96c847edf0f63a15.html

There's still something wrong with those fonts on right side. I like your theme very much, and I'd like to use it, but this little detail is annoying.

I tried again to change style in "Appearance" tab, but with no result.

^^ Try to restart the Windows and then interchange between "Aero32" and "Aero48" from Appearance tab.

Also enable/disable "Use Large Icons" option in "Effects" in Appearance tab.

  • Great. Now it's fine :-)
I shouldn't have changed Icon size settings in Stylus before.

    Thanks for help.

I'm glad finally it worked for you. :)
