Its an update over previous VistaVG RTM theme.

This theme has been made for Windows XP users who want to have "Windows Vista" look in their Windows. This theme can make your Windows XP look like Windows Vista.

"VistaVG" is the first Windows Vista look-a-like theme for Windows XP and almost all other themes available on net are based on it.

FIX:

1. Chevron BUG fixed.

2. Startmenu image BUG fixed.

And a few other BUGs fixed...

NEW:

1. A new style "Black" has been added to the theme after a lot of demand for black titlebar.

2. A separate theme for Startmenu Searchbar lovers. It shows the Vista searchbar in Start menu but its fake. You need "LSPatch" to use it.

And more...

UPDATE:

1. Titlebar Text is shown in Left now.

2. Common Tasks are also shown in Left but an extra "shellstyle.dll" file is included for bottom common tasks.

3. Aero style for 32x icon size is default now.

4. Lots of new Vista images, like "All Programs" arrow, Explorer arrows, Startmenu images, Logoff/Shutdown images, etc.

5. A few colors changed.

And lots of other small updates...

HOW TO USE:

1. Extract the contents and you'll get a folder.

2. In this folder, you'll get 4 more folders:

=> Bottom Common Tasks (This folder contains "shellstyle.dll" file for showing common tasks in explorer at bottom.)

=> Fonts (This folder contains Segoe UI fonts required for the theme. Copy them to "%windir%\Fonts" folder.)

=> Styler Toolbar (This folder contains Style toolbar for explorer. To know more about Styler and how to use it, visit following link:

How to Install and Apply Styler Toolbar Skin in Windows XP Explorer?

=> Theme (This folder contains the main theme.)

3. Copy all contents in "Theme" folder to "%windir%\Resources\Themes\" folder.

4. Now you can set the theme using Desktop Properties.

5. Also make sure you have patched the "uxtheme.dll" file to allow 3rd party visual styles, if its not patched, then download and run the UXtheme Patcher from here:

For XP SP2 Users - Download UXTheme Patcher

NOTE: Avira anti-virus might show a virus alert in the pack which is a false positive alert. Actually it prompts about "LSPatch.exe" file which is included in the pack. LSPatch.exe doesn’t contain any virus. It modifies the "Explorer.exe" file which is a system file. That’s why Avira detects a CloseApp riskware in the file. No other anti-virus detect any suspicious item in the pack. So you can safely ignore the alert.

  • Its very nice.:P

  • Hello Vishal, I replaced the files in
    %windir%\Resources\Themes\VistaVG Ultimate\Shell\NormalColor
    %windir%\Resources\Themes\VistaVG Ultimate\Shell\Aero48
    %windir%\Resources\Themes\VistaVG Ultimate\Shell\Basic32
    %windir%\Resources\Themes\VistaVG Ultimate\Shell\Basic48
    %windir%\Resources\Themes\VistaVG Ultimate\Shell\Black32
    %windir%\Resources\Themes\VistaVG Ultimate\Shell\Black48

I replaced the .dll files in these folders, and the common tasks still are at the side. When I applied the VistaVG theme, it changed the taskbar and the top of windows into Windos Classic theme! Am I doing anything wrong? I copied everything in thier right places.

  • VG

^^ Did you run UXtheme patcher?

  • What does UXTheme patcher do? Can I Remove it? Thanks in advance

  • VG

^^ It patches Windows so that you can use 3rd party themes.

  • for some reason when i installed the theme, the top only turned blue.

  • My RAM is just 256M.B. Is this theme support's my P.C

  • wow.. i really im enjoyin this.. how do i maybe subscribe to you so i can get daily news, update yo my email address????/

  • Yeah, I told you in DeviantART, but when I ran the LSPatch.exe, it screwed up my system files and now I can't use the taskbar, start menu, or desktop shortcuts, because they're not there. I got a popup that said I have to reinstall windows. I don't have the disk, so maybe you could look into designing a program that just puts a taskbar on without screwing with my files and that's compatible with Vistart. So, yeah.
