If you are facing menu cut-off problem in Start menu, then take a look at this link.

Its an update over previous VistaVG RTM theme.

This theme has been made for Windows XP users who want to have "Windows Vista" look in their Windows. This theme can make your Windows XP look like Windows Vista.

"VistaVG" is the first Windows Vista look-a-like theme for Windows XP and almost all other themes available on net are based on it.

FIX:

1. Chevron BUG fixed.

2. Startmenu image BUG fixed.

And a few other BUGs fixed...

NEW:

1. A new style "Black" has been added to the theme after a lot of demand for black titlebar.

2. A separate theme for Startmenu Searchbar lovers. It shows the Vista searchbar in Start menu but its fake. You need "LSPatch" to use it.

And more...

UPDATE:

1. Titlebar Text is shown in Left now.

2. Common Tasks are also shown in Left but an extra "shellstyle.dll" file is included for bottom common tasks.

3. Aero style for 32x icon size is default now.

4. Lots of new Vista images, like "All Programs" arrow, Explorer arrows, Startmenu images, Logoff/Shutdown images, etc.

5. A few colors changed.

And lots of other small updates...

HOW TO USE:

1. Extract the contents and you'll get a folder.

2. In this folder, you'll get 4 more folders:

=> Bottom Common Tasks (This folder contains "shellstyle.dll" file for showing common tasks in explorer at bottom.)

=> Fonts (This folder contains Segoe UI fonts required for the theme. Copy them to "%windir%\Fonts" folder.)

=> Styler Toolbar (This folder contains Style toolbar for explorer. To know more about Styler and how to use it, visit following link:

How to Install and Apply Styler Toolbar Skin in Windows XP Explorer?

=> Theme (This folder contains the main theme.)

3. Copy all contents in "Theme" folder to "%windir%\Resources\Themes\" folder.

4. Now you can set the theme using Desktop Properties.

5. Also make sure you have patched the "uxtheme.dll" file to allow 3rd party visual styles, if its not patched, then download and run the UXtheme Patcher from here:

For XP SP3 Users - Download UXTheme Patcher
For XP SP2 Users - Download UXTheme Patcher

NOTE: Avira anti-virus might show a virus alert in the pack which is a false positive alert. Actually it prompts about "LSPatch.exe" file which is included in the pack. LSPatch.exe doesn’t contain any virus. It modifies the "Explorer.exe" file which is a system file. That’s why Avira detects a CloseApp riskware in the file. No other anti-virus detect any suspicious item in the pack. So you can safely ignore the alert.

If your system already have these fonts, then don't need to install them again. ;)

  • I followed your instructions regarding revert MS Office into original blue, but it doesn't work. Does it require restart? Thx.

Since you have renamed the theme and its folder name. Re-apply the theme from Desktop properties. If it doesnt work, then first apply other themes listed in the combo box and then again apply my theme.

  • Hi Vishal

Just a small note of thanks from an appreciative new user of VistaVG.

Tried a few similiar types but always found instability, conflict, frustration, panic, anger even system restorage.

Early days but I'm impressed so far. No squabbles with explorer indeed it seems faster and Firefox, which I have dripping with extensions and bookmarklets, seems unfazed. Near perfection. Of course I'll fiddle with it and break it.....

Along with Tune-up and Styler it looks dreamy yet remains functional which I havent found elsewhere and I thank you and your skills for that.

^^ Your system has not been patched properly, thats why you are facing problem.
Restart your system in Safe Mode by pressing "F8" key and then run UXTheme Patcher. It should help.
