Here is an Icon Pack for Windows XP, which will change XP default icons with Windows Vista icons. So you'll experience the high-resolution Vista icons in XP.
How To Use:
1. Download the RAR file and then extract it.
2. You'll get a folder containing the icon pack files.
3. Download "Stardock Icon Packager" from following link:
4. Now open the "VistaVG.iconpackage" file in the installed software and apply it.

hi... it help me to recover my hard disk icon the only problem that left is the the icon of media player classic is change also and it looks like a windows icon.. what will i do?? by he way thank you for helping me..

The pack also changed WMP EXE file resources, thats why you are getting some different icon for it. The only way to reset it get a default EXE file from some other computer and replace the file in your system with it.

IconTweaker does NOT work with this. Poor instructions. Jared shows the problem and is just fobbed off.

is it possible to replace the default xp icons with ur vista icons without using any third party software ((using some registry hacking work))?? if so please help me how.because my system is very old that i cant spend some system resources for an extra sw..

^^ You can replace icons in "Shell32.dll" file with Vista ones using Resource Hacker. So you'll not need to purchase or use any other software. But it'll take time to replace all icons manually.

i have this problem..
i recently had a spyware attack and i deleted it. yet the after effects are very high. even i cant change my wallpaper and many of the options are disables. Previuosly,
my task manager was disabled, but tweaking registry it works now.
But now , many things including the display properties changing the wallpaper is undone.
I want to restore my default values.
BTW, i tried SFC /SCANNOW . but i had the same problem where Mr.Quesroz had.
