In Windows Vista, you can't use any image as folder background. But there is a small utility which allows you to set any wallpaper as background image in folders.
Thanks to Andreas for creating "Vista Folder Background". It integrates itself in Explorer and adds a new tab "Folder Background" in Folder Customization dialog box.

I have tried to install ave folderbg and it shows separate tab on right clicking any folder but when i apply background it stops working and then i have to uninstall it

loaded this on two different laptops few times wouldnt work properly tried restarting everything. then i properly shut down my laptops, turned em on again and hey presto works perfectly.
