We all know that Windows Vista and 7 show small status bar below the drives in Windows Explorer. If you are still on XP and want to get the same functionality, here is an interesting and free utility for you.
The utility is called "Vista Drive Status" developed by "elektrownik". The utility is also mentioned in our XP to Vista and XP to 7 tutorials.
Following is a screenshot of this utility in action:

You just need to download it using following link, extract the Zip file and run the "vsdrv.exe" file. That's it. It'll automatically add the status bar below drive icons in XP Explorer.
If you want to remove the drive status bar, simply run "uninstall.cmd" file present in the same folder.

for those who this doesn't work :-
1)use administrative rights...
2) just extract the zip file and then move it to "%windir%\program files "
where %windir% is the drive on which your xp is installed.!! enjoy.!!
And nice work VG.!!

hi, i wanna thank you for the great work you do
greetings from mexico
about the problem!
how to fix it here the solution...
first unzip the file and rename de folder "Vista Drive Status" to "Vista_Drive" without the quotes and put in C:\ and execute the .exe and that it...
remember you dont have to delete the folder and must keep this structure the folders
C:\Vista_Drive\vsdrv.exe
C:\Vista_Drive\vsdrv.exe
well that everything... thanks again VG
VG
^^ Thanks for the fix. I have reuploaded the software and removed the white spaces in folder names. :)

Help
When i download zip file of vista drive status for xp sp2 and run vsdrv.exe an error message is displayed that "Cannot execute "C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\Rar$EX01.734\Windows_Vista_and_7_Drive_Status_Bar_for_XP\Vista_Drive_Status\vsdrv.exe"
VG
^^ First extract the ZIP file and then run the EXE file from extracted folder. It seems currently you are trying to directly run EXE file inside the ZIP file.
