Control Panel, Task Manager, Device Manager are a few system applications which we use frequently in our daily computer tasks. Wouldn't it be great if we can access them quickly by right-click on My Computer icon on Desktop?
Today we are going to share a registry script which will add following shortcuts in My Computer context menu:
- Programs (Add/Remove Programs)
- Run Cleanup on this system
- Control Panel
- Device Manager
- Event Viewer
- Manage
- MSConfig
- Registry Editor
- Services
- Task Manager
- Windows Update

Just download following ZIP file, extract it and run desired REG file. It'll ask for confirmation, accept it:
It works in Windows XP, Vista and 7.

Scripts don't work on Vista SP2 x64. Any chances of a x64 version?

not showing any icons in xp
The Dogman
This right click menu icon modification only works in Windows 7. Don't bother with it under XP or Vista. Those two OS require dll to show the icon in the left pane of the right click. Windows 7 supports the "Icon" registry string and only the pointer to the correct icon location for this to work. It's built into Windows 7 so nothing more than a sinple registry mod is needed to make this happen.

One more point I might add. In addition to all of these really neat cool mods for your OS ... instead of placing them into "Local Machine" registry key ... you can add almost any of these cool mods to the "Current User" key and therefore they will ONLY appear whenever that particular user logs into Windows instead of for "Everyone". VERY useful if you are logged in as "Admin" and want to load your profile down with a bunch of upper level tools that won't normally run for the Local Machine Users anyway. -smiles- Just a thought. I have mine setup this way and it works flawlessly.

The My Computer Context thread only works under Windows 7. The XP and Vista use dll for the icons to show. Windows 7 uses the "Icon" registry string for it to show up. A nifty new feature built into the new OS. Very Nice!
