[Tip] How to Use “Take a Screenshot” Feature in Mozilla Firefox

A few months back, we told you about the new “Take a Screenshot” (also known as “Firefox Screenshots” or “PageShot“) feature introduced in Mozilla Firefox newer versions.

This new feature allows users to take a web page screenshot and then you can save the screenshot on your computer or online and share it with others.

To take a screenshot, you need to click on the Scissors icon present in the toolbar. It’ll launch Firefox Screenshots tool.

You can check all your screenshots using “My Shots” button present in the Firefox Screenshots toolbar.

IMPORTANT NOTE: [Enable Firefox Screenshots Feature if Disabled]

If you don’t have the option to take a screenshot, it might be possible that the feature has not been enabled in your Firefox installation yet. You’ll need to manually enable the feature using Firefox’s advanced configuration page (about:config).

Check out following step to enable Firefox Screenshots feature:

1. Open Mozilla Firefox and type about:config in the addressbar and press Enter. It’ll show you a warning message, click on “I accept the risk!” button.

2. Now type extensions.screenshots in Search filter box and it’ll show some result in the window.

3. Look for extensions.screenshots.system-disabled preference. Its value would be set to true. Double click on the preference and it’ll change its value to false. Alternatively, you can right-click on the preference and select Toggle option.

NOTE: If you can’t see extensions.screenshots.system-disabled preference in about:config page, the preference name would be extensions.screenshots.disabled. The preference name has been changed in newer Firefox versions.

  1. There is no scissor icon on the customize menu and I couldn’t find the required option in the about:config settings either. Please visit the screenshot

  2. ^^ I can see in your screenshot that extensions.screenshots.disabled is already set to False which means the Screenshots feature is already enabled in your Firefox. It seems the feature is available on A/B testing basis. Some Firefox installations have the feature and some not.

  3. I see. So what do I do now? Can you provide me the for the installation file that you are using? You have that scissor icon, right?

  4. UPDATE: In newer Firefox versions, the Scissors icon has been removed from the toolbar. Now the option to take screenshot is present in the “Page Actions” (…) menu of address bar. Alternatively, you can also right-click on the web page and select “Take a screenshot” option from the context menu.

  5. –fullpage now gone?

Firefox can’t take fullpage screenshot anymore since FF71 🙁

Do anyone has workaround this issue?
