[Tip] How to Use Night Light (Blue Light) Feature in Windows 10

Microsoft keeps adding several useful features to newer Windows 10 versions such as Game Mode to improve Windows 10 performance for gaming, Game Bar to take screenshots and record video clips while playing games, Mixed Reality Portal to enjoy 3D and virtual reality experience on your PC, etc.

Among all these new features, there is another very useful feature which we are going to discuss in this topic. This new feature is known as “Night Light” which was previously called “Blue Light” in earlier Windows 10 testing builds.

Night Light feature has been borrowed from mobile phones. Almost all smartphones come with Blue Light filter feature and now the same feature has been implemented into Windows 10 operating system.

Night Light feature in Windows 10 helps you sleep better by automatically lowering the amount of blue light emitted from your computer screen at night. Actually all display screens emit blue light which can keep you up at night. Night Light feature reduces this blue light so that if you work late at night, your brain can be ready for a good sleep.

Night Light displays warmer colors to reduce eye strain and to make it easier to sleep at night. The color opacity/temperature can be customized using Night Light settings.

By default Night Light feature is disabled but you can enable it using Settings app.

To turn on/off Night Light feature in Windows 10, follow these simple steps:

1. Open Settings app from Start Menu. Alternatively, you can press WIN+I keys together to open Settings directly.

2. Now click on System icon in Settings app and in Display tab, you’ll find Night Light feature present at the top under Color section.
