In this tutorial, we’ll tell you how to disable Game Bar and Game Mode in Windows 10 operating system.

If you don’t play games in your computer and want to disable Game Bar or Game Mode, following simple methods will help you:

How to Disable Game Bar in Windows 10:

1. Open Settings app from Start Menu. Alternatively, you can press WIN+I keys together to open Settings directly.

2. Now click on Gaming icon in Settings app and in Game Bar section, set the “Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar” option to OFF.

PS: Alternatively, You can directly launch this page using “ms-settings:gaming-gamebar” command in RUN dialog box as mentioned here.

That’s it. It’ll turn off Game Bar in Windows 10. In future, if you want to re-enable Game Bar, set the above mentioned option to ON again.

PS: The same option to enable/disable Game Bar is also present in Xbox app settings. So you can turn on/off Game Bar using Xbox app settings as well.

How to Disable Game Mode in Windows 10:

“Game Mode” can be disabled in Windows 10 in following 2 ways:

1: If you want to disable “Game Mode” for a particular game only

2: If you want to disable “Game Mode” for all games (system wide)

1: Disable Game Mode for Particular Game Only

If you want to disable “Game Mode” for any particular game, launch the game, press WIN+G hotkey to show Game Bar. Click on Settings button in Game Bar and uncheck “Use Game Mode for this game” option.

It’ll turn off “Game Mode” for that game only.

2: Disable Game Mode for All Games (System-Wide)

If you want to disable “Game Mode” for all games i.e. you want to disable “Game Mode” system wide, open Settings app from Start Menu, click on Gaming icon, then click on Game Mode tab in left-side pane. Now set “Use Game Mode” option to OFF to disable Game Mode system wide.

It’ll turn off Game Mode completely in Windows 10. If you decide to use Game Mode in future, set the above mentioned option to ON again.

  1. Hi,
    I don’t have the option to turn off game mode. Hat button is not showing for me. Win+G is not bringing up the option to turn off game mode either. Any idea on how I can bypass this to turn game mode off?

  2. game mode wont stay off I want to disable it completely . but it keeps coming back on ..
