We all know that Windows 7 and Windows 8 allow you to pin shortcuts to Taskbar so that you can access them quickly and easily using a single click.
We have also posted a few tutorials in past which help you in pinning folders, drives and useful system shortcuts to Windows 7 and Windows 8 Taskbar. Today in this article, we are going to share a new freeware which helps you in pinning almost anything to Windows 7 and Windows 8 Taskbar.
"Taskbar Pinner" is a free software developed by our friend "hb860" which allows you to:
- Pin any file regardless of its type
- Pin any folder
- Pin drives
- Pin Control Panel items including God Mode, Network Connections
- Pin Libraries
- Pin Shell Objects like Run command, "Minimize All", Window Switcher
- Pin any drive, all folders and all files via Explorer Context Menu
- Pin any folders or files with drag and drop
- Pin any folders or files via command line

It works in both Windows 7 and Windows 8. There are 2 different versions available in the download archive.
Taskbar Pinner is a portable app so you don't need to install it. Simply run the app and pin the desired item to Taskbar.
You can download it using following link:

Taskbar Pinner v1.0.1
Bug fixed: if %temp% is short path to temp folder, you were unable to pin anything.
Bug fixed: crash when the slash was the last character in the command line.
Bug fixed: crash of the shell location dialog.

Hi VG,
I've installed the TaskbarPinner and wanted to deleted it. It was a good portable app btw. I did it successfully but one problem hit me: the "Pin to TaskbarPinner" still appeared there on the Context Menus. how to remove it?
VG
^^ You can remove it from Registry. Search for the term using Find option.
Kyle
went to registry>found it>deleted it ==> nothing happens.
the registry key is gone but the "Pin to TaskbarPinner" still appears there on the DCM, now serving as the function, "Open with..."
VG
^^ It might be still present somewhere in Registry which is causing this issue. Check out following keys:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shell
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
The best way to find out the culprit would be, search for the EXE file of Taskbar Pinner in Registry and remove the keys which contains its reference. Or you can post them here.

Out of topic question:
I don't know what happened but when I pinned explorer icon to taskbar and when click it opens second explorer icon to taskbar, it should use pinned explorer icon but it opens second explorer icon next to pinned explorer icon, why this happens?
I have Windows 7 x64 SP1
VG
^^ Did you try to unpin it and then re-pin the icon?

Out of topic question:
Is it possible to prevent movement of pinned taskbar icons in Windows 7?
Solution for my last bug:
I had to unpin all my pinned icons and re-pin those, it fixed the problem.
