Stardock DeskScapes: Extension to Windows Vista DreamScene

Stardock DeskScapes allows users of Windows Vista Ultimate to have dynamic, animated wallpaper.

It works as an extension to the Windows DreamScene Ultimate Extra that is available to all users of Windows Vista Ultimate.

DeskScapes supports the new .Dream format. By default, Windows DreamScene supports MPEG and WMV videos as their content. The .Dream format supports adding triggers, author info, and dynamic content. Now users know if a given file has been designed to be an animated wallpaper -- if it uses the .Dream format, it's an animated wallpaper!

  • you know, the cpu-usage is NOT low who the hack wrote that? :lol:

    Of course, if you just use a non-animated wallpaper its low, but for an animated wallpaper you need a very strong cpu;

    i recommend min. 3Ghz, but then you can just surf through the internet without the ability to watch movies/ hear music

    I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+@3.4Ghz (x2) and the usage is sometimes over 80% without doing anything!!! Need a quadcore :!:

    I have AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ @2.1 Ghz and I have no trouble running most dreams and also listening to music & surfing net at the same time. A few poorly constructed dreams do max out the CPU, but most of them run just fine. Well constructed dreams do use some CPU, but nothing like 80%. And Vista seems do quite well at automatically pausing/freezing the dream when there are other higher priority demands on the CPU. Of course, I also have 4GB of RAM, which may or may not have anything to do with it...
