I think it's because they don't count the NT versions of Windows before they killed the 9x series. So that would mean:

Windows 1 - 1
Windows 2 - 2
Windows 3, 3.1, 3.11 - 3
Windows 95, 98, ME - 4
Windows XP (They might have counted 2000, making XP 5,1) - 5
Windows Vista - 6
Windows Se7en - 7

Not sure that is why, but it might be...

It bites being forced to rely on the search utility because all the links you click, run you in circles and not where you want to go.
